We're back with another update with 933 painted models, a staggering number even to us! Three Earth Reborn sets will be finished by the time I finish writing this so that brings out total close to 1,000 painted figures just for this one post. It's hard to guess how many we've painted all together, but I would say somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000.
Nearing the end of the school year, we've been backed up with painting commissions. Customers have had to wait a long time for their models and that was unacceptable to us. Updates were slow because we were literally swamped with work. We have tried out new methods, new techniques, and hired more painters to increase out output and efficiency. This will be our revamped Lazuli 2.0 that we have been testing for about a month. We will be ready to go live with this in a couple of weeks after we've cleared the rest of the backlog. We have some exciting things in store including live updates sent directly to your phone with instant messaging for a faster reply. You can talk directly to the artist or team assigned to your project instead of having to go through email where I would have to track down your artist and see the project for myself.
Well enough talking, time for some pictures! First up, some teaser shots for our upcoming new website shot by our friends at A.nguyen Studios.
Some of us got together to watch the midnight premier of World War Z so Zombicide is first! P.S. World War Z was terrible, don't waste your money, just read the book! The movie starts out as a world-wide 2012 type movie and ends as a 28 Days Later with less action. No zombies are even killed in the last 10 or 15 minutes. The cure is also stupid.
This is 308 models:
And now that we are onto big projects, here is a compilation of the Studio's Chaos Armies painted by s0rice and elotsip. All things Chaos are represented here, there are sub-armies of Traitor Guard, various Chaos Space Marine Legions, and daemons from all the Chaos Gods. Total is over 300 models painted to Quality and Exhibition Standard.
Next up is elotsip's Ork Army from Warhammer 40,000
Two Bushido Armies for Marco Arnaudo:
Cult of Yurei:
Prefecture of Ryu:
My favorite one:
SSU Tanks painted by Keerplunk for Marco also:
MERCS Squad painted for Scott:
Cities of Death buildings painted for Will in Canada:
Garden of Morr Fantasy terrain:
Some more Fantasy Terrain, the fortified Manor:
All of it put together:
Another cool set, the Dark Debts painted for Louis Lau:
A Firestorm Armada Cruiser:
I'm running short on time to post this, so we'll end this blog post with this:
Thanks for looking as always and I'm sure I missed a couple of sets, but you can always view pictures on our Facebook:
and be sure to visit our website (a new one will be up soon too!)
The Lazuli team is back with more models for you all to see! As always, we have a ton of stuff and C&C is very welcome.
To start off, we received a pleasant surprise from a long time customer. Chris has phased out his old Chaos Space Marine army for a Necron army we recently painted for him. This was the first army I had ever painted on commission, you can see that we have improved a long way from 2008. I painted these in middle school so they are not that great.
Super Dungeon Explore painted for Evan Ralston by me, Dana, Phuong, and Kayla.
Next up are some Godslayer starter sets painted to Quality Standard for Jason Saldana.
MERCS CCC and USCR painted to Exhibition for Tom Blake:
A personal set. These 1:150 scale buildings are the Strange Ghost Town from the Japanese Animated Film Spirited Away. Everything is actually made from papers of various textures and thickness. The buildings are anywhere between 85 and 120 parts each.
Infinity figures painted for Brian Tanner. We made a mistake on these figures for Brian (they were painted to the wrong standard) and are working with him to correct everything as best we can. We know we are not perfect, but we do everything in our power to provide the best customer service and work with all customers to a satisfactory solution if anything gos wrong (which is very rare).
Another Infinity set painted for Brian Roberts:
We can't have a Lazuli post without a Dust game, here is a set painted by Keerplunk for Chris Chung.
Relic set painted for Tim Kelly in our home town of DFW:
We got this cool looking picture from a previous customer: Kenneth Chipman from Canada. He painted the buildings and made the display. The gorillas were painted by Lazuli Miniatures Studio and the KV-47 walker was done by Dust Studioes.
Tomb Kings painted for John Green in Lousiana.
Zombicide test set. We will have four more for customers posted next time.
Finally, a Hordes Legion of Everblight Carnivore/Ravigore. Magnetized and painted for Rand Eaton.
That sums up all the completed work, now to General WiP images.
A very messy studio:
And events: first was a local contest at Gamesworkshop Grapevine Mills Mall. My Tyranid Trygon won for March's competition.
Our biggest show this time was IPMS Scalefest 2013 in Mesquite Texas. We won a total of ten awards. There was a lot of competition this year, please check out others' works on our Facebook page (linked at the end).
Awards with Chris's massive Necron Army that we delivered after the show.
Phuong and Kayla with their awards:
Thank you for looking everyone, we'll be back soon with more models. Like our work? Check our our Facebook and Website for more images.

Lazuli back again with a delayed blog post. We've had quite a bit of misfortunes here at the Studio so we are a little behind on painting everything. First a few weeks back, we had one of our emails hacked and our main work machine with all the data crashed. Just when we got everything in order again, a pipe burst in the Studio and flooded the entire room. I am happy to say that we got all of our customers' projects out in time, but the same cannot be said for our things. Anyways, projects are back on schedule now and here are some pictures:
We painted these awhile back, but finally we have some good pictures of them. Kenneth from Canada was also nice enough to share pictures of our paintings on his beautiful 1-48 Combat Gaming Board.
Super Dungeon Explore
This game was fun, the chibi anime style is a great change from the normally dark-gothic or historical things we get. The girls really enjoyed painting these. We have two more sets down the pipeline (full sets, with all the expansions).
This game comes pre-painted, but the pre-paints are just a flat coat. I do have to give props to Catalyst for the best pre-paints that we have ever seen. Out paintjob was worked off with the factory pre-paints.
These were painted by Keerplunk. Desert scheme Axis and Allies.
Just a quick Gaming Standard set.
Mice and Mystics:
We painted six sets of this (not all of them are pictured) game. The girls did not like painting the rats and bugs, but we got them done! We have one set that the customer did not claim, if you are interested in it, please message me
Another green Sedition Wars Sets (We have another 6 or 7 sets at the end in the WiP section!).
A desert scheme set painted by Keerplunk.
This is a GIANT 1:6 Scale Figure. Lynn and I painted this for our school project.
Dust Tactics: North Koreans
This was one of my personal armies for the Dust World Expo. The army is based off the SSU Army List, but the army is actually North Korean. There are a ton of conversions in this army, parts from at least 8 different manufacturers including Statuesque Miniatures, Dust Models, and Infinity.
Dust Tactics NDAK Germans
I think we posted these before, but this army was raffled off at the Dust World Expo and our lucky winner was Richard Busby who traveled all
the way from Atalanta, Georgia to Phoenix, Arizona to play. The raffle raised $200 for Multiple Sclerosis and Noble Drilling matched the donation for a total of $400. Thanks everyone!
DUST WORLD EXPO
I normally do WIP after completed work, but since the last two entires talked about the Dust World Expo. The Southwest Dust Devels held the first Dust World Expo at Imperial Outpost in Phoenix, Arizona. Creator of the Dust Universe, Paolo Parente, flew in from China to attend.
Cosplayers for Sigrid von Thaler, and the Red Yana with my paintings of their 1:20 scale characters:
The cosplayers with Parente:
Rick Ivansek's beautiful board:
Mechanical Warhorse's table:
My North Koreans advancing across the bridge:
Cows! for the Stampede scenario:
theguildlc's winning model:
WiP Tomb Kings:
Sedition Wars Blood:
Thanks for looking everyone! Comments, questions, and inquires are welcome

Hello Board Game Geek,
Lazuli back with another New Years post: this time Vietnamese New Years. As always we have a lot to show. Thank you again everyone who took their time to look at our work.
We have too many pictures to fit onto one blog post so please check out the rest here:
First up: Bushido painted for Marco Arnaudo, check our his channel here:
These were interesting sets to paint; we usually do not receive a lot of Fantasy sets, much less one with a setting in Feudal Japan. We went with the schemes on the box for the most part, but we wanted to add more red to the Prefecture of Ryu models, but not too much because they had some white incorporated in them already and we didn't want them to look like American Patriots. All the whites were also switched to off tones. The Cult of Yurei featured some of my favorite models I have ever come across like the Puppet Master and the creepy looking child.
Next up an Earth Reborn set painted for Charles. These are an example of our lowest standard (Gaming Standard. We've painted probably close to three dozen Earth Reborn sets so I don't have much to say on these ^_^
Some Dust Tactics tanks painted for Jason. Jason had asked us to match the Premium (Dust Studio pre-paints) models and I think we did a fairly good job even though we had to try close to 20 shades of olive green to get the right match. Try to tell which was the original in each picture!
Finished Chaos Space Marines from the last update. These were painted for Gaetano in Italy. The Chaos Space Marines are almost the standard Word Bearer colors minus the yellow and with the addition of blue glowing claws. The bases were purposefully dark to make the figures stand out.
A couple Dungeons and Dragons models painted by Keerplunk:
Some Infinity models painted for Brian in Canada. The pictures did not show up well, but we really tried to capture the Anime feel for this project. I forget which faction they are (Nomads?).
A Dust Tactics army painted for Dust Expo. Dust World Expo will be held on February 22-23 in Arizona. This army will be raffled at the event and the proceeds will go the the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the MS150 event in April. The total money will be matched by Noble Drilling.
The scheme is based off the NDAK (Desert Korps North Africa) Germans in World War II, but with the setting of the Expo's tournament in Texas, it gave it more freedom on the bases.
Time for the largest project of the year so far: Sedition Wars. These first two Biohazard sets for John in New York. The Biohazard sets doubles the amount of figures so this project was the equivalent of four base games.
Gaming Standard AW-WWII for Brian (BGG user: sfsct3172)in Hawaii. These figures are a mix of AE-WWII Darkson Designs, Dust Tactics, and a few other Weird War II ranges.
Erde Type Soils 1:6 figure. I don't know anything about this figure, purchased her off eBay. Also this was my first 1:6 figure and I wasn't really sure what I was doing. Best part about the model was that I didn't touch the brush except for on the eyes. The rest of the work is spray paint.
Well that concludes the completed work, now time for the in progress commissions:
Tau WiP for Kevin. Lots of interesting conversions on these. This army is a renegade Imperial Guard force.
Gear of War models being painted for user mhutton.
Some models for the game Strange Aeons. Can't comment because I don't know anything about this game. Just painting as the customer instructs!
Two more sets of Sedition Wars and we can finally be done!
Tomb Kings for John Green.
Malifaux for Marco:
MERCS CCC and USCR:
Various in Queue projects:
Final picture, promise!
Happy Birthday to our painter Phuong Tran (middle) who turned 18 today.
Phuong is a very talented and hardworking artist. In addition attending school, she works three jobs to support her family in Vietnam.
Have a great birthday Phuong and thank you everyone who showed up.
Thank you for reading everyone!

Happy New Years from everyone at the Studio! We are truly grateful to all of our customers and fans for all of their support that made everything possible for us. Thank you everyone for continuing to read our posts and a special thanks to all of our customers that commissioned paintings or purchased models from us; you are helping to keep a few high school kids employed and putting a dent in our college tuition.
With the money we received from our projects last year, we were able to get some major upgrades in the studio:
We purchased painting stations and a whole lighting set up along with new sets of paints; enough for every artist to have their own. Thank you everyone once again!
First up, a WiP of a Chaos Space Marines Army we are painting for Gaetano in Italy.
Next up are two MERCS factions painted for Marco in Indiana:
This Super Dungeon Explore expansion set was painted by Keerplunk for Chris in California.
A Mice & Mystics set painted for Scott in Canada.
Some Dust Tactics/Warfare models painted for Ryan of SNAFU Games.
A quick Studio display piece painted in about 3 hours:
Another couple of Dust sets this time for Therron from Indiana:
Imperial Fists (These were retouched, they are the oldest Studio display set):
Bushido WiP also being done for Marco:
Malifaux Plastics being painted for Louis. I had assembled pictures, but I'm not sure where they went, check this space for updates or the next blog entry.
And finally a Puppet Wars set:
Completely unrelated to boardgames, but:
Lazuli Miniatures Studio by night = Lazuli Arms and Munitions Co.
Thank you everyone for looking. C&C as always is very welcome, please share with your friends!
For commission work:
Hello Board Game Geek Readers,
Lazuli Miniatures back with more pictures of painting figures. Before the pictures, we would like to let you all know that we are hiring, here are the guidelines.
Lazuli Miniatures Studios is Hiring for 2013!
We are looking for people to assemble and paint miniature figures for boardgames and wargames. This is fine detail work with complex instructions, miniature figures are about an inch tall and need to be painted to look like an actual person (scaled down of course)!
I would prefer if you paint nails well and/or have had an art background of some kind.
You do not have to have any experience with miniature wargames or figure painting. The only requirements are being a non-smoker and that you must live within 30 minutes of Keller, Texas.
We are doing try-outs December 20, 21, and December 24 to January 1st. There is no need to bring materials, we will have paints and miniatures.
If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Payment is based on work completed, usually averaging to $9.00 an hour depending on how fast you work. Work is done from home and the team usually meets once a month.
First up are alternative figures for the game Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery painted for Peter in Sweden.
Next up is a Dust Tactics/Warfare army painted for Roland over in Switzerland. More pictures of this army are available in the Dust Chronicles Volume 3 and at the end of this post (look for Sci-Fi Factory Grand Opening)
A Mice and Mystics Set painted for Scott in Canada:
Not tied to any game, but here is the Twilight Knight in 54mm scale, a studio display piece.
Here is a set of tanks we painted for Bryan in Canada for the Dust Tactics/Warfare games.
And another Dust Tactics/Warfare set painted for Therron from Indiana. He personally visited the Studio while he was playing a tournament in Hurst and we got his armies completed before his event finished.
MERCS painted for Marco, also in Indiana.
And the Texico faction.
And finally, pictures from the Sci-Fi Factory's Grand Opening. If you are in Fort Worth, check them out, we have our city table free-to-play at their store.
Thanks for looking everyone,

[EDIT]: Lazuli Miniatures Studios is hiring! We prefer local artists in the DFW area, but anyone in the USA is welcome, please contact me for more details and provide a link to your works.
We've been really busy and haven't been able to update the blog much, but we promise there is a lot of eye candy in this post. I just returned from my trip to the beautiful island of Bonaire to start on Lazuli Miniatures Studio's largest project to date, 40,000 points of Necrons for Warhammer 40,000.
A teaser of our City gaming table, more later in the post!
Speaking of Warhammer 40,000, Dark Vengeance, the new 6th Edition Starter is going to be released September 1st and we are doing a special deal on it. $350 (reg. $500) for Exhibition Standard painted or $200 to Gaming Standard. We will be glad to split the factions if two customers want only 1 army. Here is a picture of the new Chaos Space Marines including the Hellbrute:
(I do not know the retail on this set yet, but I believe it will be between $125-$150).
Speaking of Warhammer 40,00, here is the Necron army we received (this is not even all of it!). We previously painted a 3000 point army for the customer and he was so happy he had us do another 40,000 points (there will be an additional 5,000 or so points of Forgeworld models).
Priming begins on the "flying croissants"
I cleverly basecoated separate parts in black and silver to speed up the painting, assembly and basecolors took me from 12AM to 3AM to complete.
Test model painted (yes they will end up being more interesting, the weapons will hopefully have a green glow effect as everything is rather dull at the moment!):
The second Warhammer 40,00 Army we received is a Tau-Human Gue'vessa(?) Army. Here are the painted drones and crisis suits:
A Imperial Guard Manticore:
Now onto DUST, the miniatures people commission us to do the most. First up is a set painted for Chris in Germany:
A Cobra/Rattler Allied tank painted for Jason:
Teaser of the next Allied army:
Anima Tactics models painted for Kevin in Canada:
Flames of War aeroplane, this model is so tiny!
Apocalyptic City built for Dust, this was finished some time ago, but I haven't posted great shots of it on here yet. The parts of the buildings took around 12 of the Tenement kits by Fantasy Flight Games (or 8 of the Cerebus sets):
Some pictures of a Dust Battle being played:
Tank commander Sigrid:
View the entire report here:
Want more DUST? The Dust Chronicles first issue is here:
I put a quick one-page SSU painting guide there.
Speaking of SSU, back to DUST. Apologies if this seems a bit out of order, but I have so many pictures to post. These were painted for Terry in Florida.
The second table we built for a customer:
Buildings being painted, this is 3 Warzone Tenement sets.
That's it for this post, I am missing a few things, but they will have to wait until next time, thanks for looking! Last picture, a photo I took with my cousin and a friend on our vacation:
The Facebook page is currently at 288 Likes, please help us get to 300 and we will do another raffle!
And the website if anyone is interested in a commission:
Thanks again for reading!

Lazuli Miniatures Studio back from WarGamesCon with a ton of pictures to show you all. Be warned, there will be about 100 pictures in this post ^_^ Plenty of pictures from the show at the end too!
First off are 3 DUST sets. The first is an Allied Army we painted for raffle at WarGamesCon 2012. The second is the themed around the Deutsches Afrikakorps or DAK. The third DUST set is an Original Core Set.
Allied Rangers, Ardennes 1947
([So]Rice and elotsip)
This army was one of the three raffle armies at WarGamesCon 2012. We wanted to try a winter scheme on these and do a disruption pattern on the walkers. We only had 4 days to do this one for the show.
The lucky winner of this army (right):
Deutsches Afrikakorps, Tunisia 1947
This army was painted for Brian, an employee at Dragon Lair games in Austin, be sure to stop by their wonderful store to check out this army if you are in the area! This entire army was done in one day.
DUST Tactics Original Core Box
Next up is a Necromunda Gang painted for the owner of the Yakromunda Forum. The army is based off the Purple Brothers, a real Hmong gang.
We painted 3 sets of 1-48 Combat Models, we went almost all out on these detailing the eyes and giving the faces a frostbitten look too! Surprisingly, the set that I did placed Gold at WarGamesCon in Historical Squad.
([So]Rice and Adam)
This is a set of Last Night on Earth Heroes, the models for this game are terrible, most of the detail work had to be freehanded!
Last Night on Earth

Also Lazuli Miniatures Studio picked up two new painters, Isaiah Burgess (Keerplunk) and Aj Thorton (Kobayashi/William T.). Here are some of their models. With such a variety of artists, Lazuli Minaitures Studio is sure to meet the needs of any customer!

We'll leave you guys with this picture:
Long time no update (again!), been very busy with AP Testing the last few weeks. Only 2 more weeks left of school ^_^ We have a lot to show this time: Dust, Heavy Gear, some painting shows and a bunch of post-apocalyptic terrain.
First up, a game I have never painted before, Heavy Gear. These models are from the Utopian Army:
Next these models were painted by Adam for BGG user Cardboard Carnage:
This set of Wargames Factory Sci-Fi Shocktroopers was also painted for Cardboard Carnage (look out for them in the upcoming contest!)
These DUST miniatures were painted for the Dust Tactics 2011 World Champion, Christopher Smith.
Anima Tactics to Gaming Standard for a Canadian customer:
A combination of three Fall Peadot German Armies, some of the Studio's display models, and two sets for customers in Switzerland and Australia. This army won Gold in collections at Scalefest 2012 (see end for more )
Some more DUST models:
Worked on the post-apocalyptic city. So far it is generic but I will add posters probably to represent WWII-era Great Britain for Dust. Also working on a 4 foot long church to take the rest of the space.
As a 2x2 Demo table:
Some pictures of theguildlc's table:
And an armored train to go on it:
At a game store:
