The Welborn family had a solid weekend of gaming.

Friday night: We started out with my wife, myself and our two children playing two games of Fearsome Floors.

I won the first game in a close battle, as both my son and wife would have won on their next move. In the second game my wife had it won if she would have sacrificed one of her pieces to get the monster to veer away from the exit. Instead, she tried to save that piece, resulting in two of her pieces being eaten, eliminating her from the game. My daughter had also lost two people, so she could only win if the rest of us were eaten. This left my son and me. We both maneuvered to the exit, but I had a slight advantage and was able to claim the victory.

After the children went to bed, my wife and I decided to play a 3 round game of Lost Cities.

My wife jumped out to the early lead and held on for the victory. I wrote a session report about the game: What a horrible, horrible round..

On Saturday, my daughter had a basketball game and then dance practice. My son and I attended the game but went home while my wife took her to dance. I used the time to introduce my son to Summoner Wars.

It didn't take very long to explain the rules. He chose the Orcs and gave me the Elves. I offered a few pointers during the game but he mostly played on his own. He was able to put a few hits on my summoner but I was able to take out his summoner first for the win.

We then went out of town to visit my wife's family. We got back in the evening and had time for three games of Clue Suspect. This was the first playing for us of this new card game.

My wife was the big winner, taking two of the three games while i took the third. My session report on these games can be found here: Three games with the family . . . in only 35 minutes.

On Sunday afternoon, I introduced my kids to Defenders of the Realm.

The kids are experienced with Pandemic and Forbidden Island so they quickly picked up how to play. Unfortunately, that experience didn't translate to a win as the land was overrun with taint after we had managed to kill only one general. A close loss to the undead general proved our undoing.

Later in the day, the kids and I played a game of Blokus Trigon.

We are all familiar with the Blokus family of games and it is usually pretty close but for some reason I ran away with the victory today, scoring 5 while my daughter scored 20 and my son 21.

After dinner we had time for one more game so my wife joined us for a couple of quick games of Liar's Dice.

Neither child had played before so we had a practice game to show them how the bidding worked. We then played two games for real. In the first game my wife won and I finished 2nd. In the next game, I beat my daughter when I rolled four 2s and bid three 2s. She challenged and also had a two. This caused her to lose both of her dice and the game.

I really like it how much fun you have playing games with your family. It makes me want to get the games out for them more as well.

Thanks Leonie. Almost all of my gaming these days is with my wife or the family so I really try to choose games that will work well with the group. We do have a lot of fun and gaming is one of our favorite activities to do together.
