Bobby's Games

I will be posting monthly recaps of my gaming which I have been doing in GeekLists. I'll also be commenting on games on occasion, though I can tell you that I will be behind the curve because I just don't get to play the new games as soon as some people do.

Not much of a post here, though you can see the games I played back in January on my GeekList, January 2011 Games Played.

The first Saturday of February had us playing 7 Wonders five times during the day. Yes, I am behind on playing this because I wanted to play it before buying it. I really liked it, though the game with six felt like there were too many. I'll play it with that many, but I would prefer to play with fewer. I already ordered sleeves for when the reprint hits the shelves in a couple of weeks. I also managed to pull off a win in Rattus, which is almost as hard to believe as me winning a game of 7 Wonders.

In the evening, I went to a friend's house and I played Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game a couple of times. I was never interested in it, but it was fun and the finite number of turns means the game will not outlast its welcome. I am looking forward to playing it on occasion and I think Mike is already looking at buying all the expansions, related games, and paraphernalia by tomorrow.

In the Ground Hog Day Math Trade I managed to trade away one of my extra Monsterpocalypse Two-Player Battle Boxes and my copy of Löwenherz for Asteroyds and a copy of Zooloretto which I will be flipping for a copy of Aquaretto.

I'm not sure what to expect from Asteroyds, but I was interested in it when it came out, but the price was a little much for a blind buy. Trading for a copy is an excellent solution for trying it out without having to buy it.

Christa has not been a fan of Aquaretto since she bought it, so I've been trying to trade for a copy of Zooloretto for her for it. I finally managed to grab one in the math trade, so we can swap and I will have a copy of my own.

Interesting ... since you tagged "7 Wonders" as having been referenced in this blog, and I'm subscribed to the "7 Wonders" game entry, this blog showed up in my new items.

I've played 7 Wonders mainly with 7 and 5. I suspect it's a very different game with only three, moreso with only 2. It's one of my favorite games right now, really hits a sweet spot for me.

I really like Asteroyds! If you like RoboRally-like planning, but want more of a challenge and more time pressure than RoboRally, it's pretty sweet.

I was surprised about how often I thought about playing it again for the two weeks between the first time I played it and last Saturday. All the playings, but the one with six, were with four players. I like it with four since you will get back half the cards you are dealt and pass off the first time each round.

Six was different because I almost never saw the scientific structures come my way because the player across from me was snatching them up whenever he could. With a couple of players going with that extreme specialization, by the end of the game I was feeling like I was just collecting scraps. Now, I am not good at the game, so my suckiness might just be coloring my opinion.

I hope I enjoy it that much. We've enjoyed the recent racing games, Powerboats, Fast Flowing Forest Fellers, and Snow Tails.
