* (Alien) Ascendancy

Originally JKLM agreed to publish Ascendancy in 2006, and opened pre-orders in Feb 2008, but it never actually got published.

JKLM liquidated in Feb 2010, and finally their involvement with me on this project was terminated in September 2010 see this announcement.

Since then I've been looking for a new publisher, and been offering print and play prototypes (see this geeklist).

* Invader Sector 831

A 'filler' level sci-fi themed multiplayer game, where each player takes a succession of races (each with a unique technology) and invades a sector of space.

Some interest from publishers - no firm offers

* Ascendancy Express

A rework of Omega Centauri using dice rather than focus cards/actions as the central mechanic. Shorter, faster and more tactical. Still in early playtest and I'm not saying much more as I don't want to distract from Ascendancy.

* Drafting game

Undergone several reworks including retheming - initally I designed this game after playing Fairy Tale and wanting more 'game' along with the draft mechanic.

Several publishers have looked at the various versions, no interest and now probably eclipsed by 7 Wonders. Well on the back burner now.

* Dungeon Crawl

I loved the concept of Dungeon Lords but it wasn't the game I was looking for. I want to play a game where I build a bunch of heroes and raid an opponents dungeon, while building my own and fighting off my opponents.

Still kicking ideas around - nothing firm enough for a playtest

Update 13 April ...

Had a breakthrough with the 'Ascendancy Express' (hmm, need a better name) - rather than rolling dice Yahtzee style (roll, set to one side some, roll again) I've switched to a draft, so roll dice, pick one, next player picks one, and so on ... feels more like Ascendancy. Now tinkering with technology and power of the actions.

Update 24 August ...
I'm hopeless at this blogging thing - I keep forgetting to update.

With the news Omega Centauri has been picked up by Spiral Galaxy Games I'm focusing back on that, doing more testing, etc. So other developments are mostly on the back burner.

Hi Nigel,

Sorry for the trouble you're having with "Ascendancy." Hope it finds a good home/producer.

I like the sound of the "filler" alien-invasions game, and also the dungeon crawl.

I particularly like your idea of a dungeon game in which you're both penetrating an opponent's lair and defending one of your own. Tremendous possibilities! I'm picturing dungeon parties of not only the stock humans/elves/dwarves/wizards but also of such parties as orcs/goblins/shamans, barbarians/raiders/thugs, and necromancers/minions.

Very exciting idea, this. Please keep the audience informed!

+1 for the proper Dungeon Keeper game. Dungeon Lords was just not for me.
