March 22nd

Mr. Modelo stopped by and said hi before Timm arrived. I said "hi" back and completely devoured him before we played a game. Chris arrived as we were trying to narrow down a game to play. We had three tonight and usually that affords us a good opportunity to play something that handles perhaps 3-4. Well, all of us were feeling a bit lazy, as well, so we broke out Yspahan for an opener. We all know it, it had been awhile, and it was quick. In this specific game, I tried something different (not work on my buildings) and since I had a card to cash in cash for points, I grabbed money. The first 2/3's the game, I was right there in points. But, ultimately, the fine base that Chris and Timm built with buildings and camels shot out ahead of me. Chris squeaked out the win with 92, Timm had 91 and I had 59.

It was only the start of my issues. Because Timm and Chris were begging and whining to play the next game as we played the above game, I figured we would play it Monad was brought to the table and we started the exercise. Man, I suck at this game. Suck suck suck suck suck. I do like it and think it's good, but I can only play every so often. Chris was the first to snag on a 'Nad and I followed suit shortly after. It took Timm awhile to grab a 'Nad but when he did, he steamrolled and won the game fairly quickly after that. Timm ended up with four 'Nads, Chris had three. I had one 'Nad and was ready to acquire a second before Timm ended it.

We had time and we were looking for something not very brain-burny as Monad will suck your brain. I had just got Daytona 500 in the Milwaukee Auction (Thanks Doug!) and broke that out. Both Chris and I had played Detroit-Cleveland Grand Prix in the past and the game isn't difficult, so Timm picked it up immediately. A little rule run through and off we rolled. The auctions did not seem very intense with us as we weren't quite sure about things. I know next time, getting pole position is HUGE. You don't want your cars starting in 6th position. That along will push the auctions up a bit. You also can control the pace from that point (at least to start with). Anyways, in each race, I took no higher than 3rd. shake. Timm ended up winning after the three races with 1.28m, Chris had 1.01 million. I had 800k. (and a rock).

Three guys grabbing their share of 'Nads? Why, yes, that sounds like an 'interesting' evening.
