This week we had a long weekend as both the kids and my wife were off on Friday, so we started off with a rare game on Thursday night. Since we didn't have much time, I picked Ra: The Dice Game.

The subtitle to this game was Civilizations? We don't need no stinkin' civilizations as I continually received minus 5 points for failing to manage at least one civ. Ultimately, my uncivilized nature proved my undoing. The game was close but my son pulled out the victory with my daughter second on the basis of strong efforts in the pyramids.

Final Scores: Son 38, Daughter 35, Wife 32, Me 30

Friday we spent most of the day Geocaching in Anderson and at the Clemson Botanical Gardens. When we got home that evening we had time to play Puerto Rico. Final Scores: Me 61, Son 51, Daughter 44, Wife 36.

On Saturday, the wife and kids went to Georgia for a Bridal Shower leaving me at the house with nothing to do. Since it was raining, I decided to play a solo game of Disaster on Everest and write a narrative of the game.

My session report is posted here: Assault on Mt. Everest -- a narrative with pictures. I think it is pretty good, so go check it out, I'll wait until you get back. . .

So what did you think?

Saturday night my wife and I played a rather lengthy game of Mhing. She won 512 to 352.

I wrote up a synopsis of the game here: 2 player game with my wife..

Sunday proved to be another busy day and we didn't get a chance to game until after dinner. Tonight we decided to give Finca a play, as it hadn't hit the table in over a year.

Final Scores: Me 50, Son 47, Daughter 42, Wife 39

My wife has decided to write her first session report and I'll link to it when it is published. It can be found here: Picking Fruit with the Family: My First Session Report

Just wanted to throw a quick comment in here... I love how dedicated you guys are to play with your family. I only hope that when I get around to getting a family of my own, that we can do this sort of thing as well.

Thanks so much for your blogs! I read every weekend!

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy doing the write-ups; I'm glad someone enjoys reading them.

You guys are an inspiration for me to try and pry my two off their Wii or DS. An uphill battle!
