Everyone made it over and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Dinner was Sloppy Joes, I had folks bring sides, drinks and dessert.

For Sale
I opened the night with For Sale. No one but I had ever played this game. The first game was the inevitable learning game. I explained the game then we did a single hand from each of the two rounds. That seems to have gotten the game explained. We played all the way through one game. I'm pretty sure Brian won that. After that I left them to play a couple games while I started the Sloppy Joes. It was clearly and easy enough game to learn that the group took the helm and played on.

Acquire
After dinner I opened with Acquire. This game was tough for some members of the group. The lack of a "team" to identify with made it difficult as well as understanding whether it was ideal to go for the big companies or small companies. We played through nonetheless. I ended up winning by a landslide based on cunningly starting small companies near the large one and letting them be taken and trading in my stocks. People seemed to feel it was a bit too heavy for the group. For my part it was the most fun of the night.

Zombie Fluxx
After a thinkie game, people needed a break. We broke out Zombie Fluxx. Some people at the table had played it before, everyone had played some form of Fluxx. I hate to admit this but I grow tired of Fluxx. I guess when I play I want to work towards some endstate, whether I'm the one to reach it first or not. Fluxx lends itself to players who like to create chaotic gameplay and we have one of those in our group. I don't hate the game I just don't expect it to hit the table much without a request.

Formula D
We broke out Forumla D to wrap up the evening. I got a work call I had to take so I missed the first quarter of the game. The group played me along and I was in a decent place when I was ready to play. I managed to pull ahead for the first lap but fell into what appeared to be an irreparable 2nd place at about the halfway point of the second lap. I pressed hard to catch up but ended up losing my car. We ended up laughing hysterically as we all destroyed our cars in turn. It had started drag. My wife proposes a ban on counting spaces and that seems reasonable to me.

The evening ended well and a tad late but I think we enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to getting people trained up on games so we can stop with the teaching games. I also look forward to getting a couple more people in so we can start breaking into two groups and start playing games with a lower player count. This games session also brought home the point to me that I need to get to a Eurogame event at least monthly. I want to play more Euros and party games frustrate me.

Too bad you don't like Party Games. I think 6 is the ideal number for Time's Up! and Bang! Our group also enjoys Shadows Over Camelot with six.

I'd play them, I'm not opposed on principle I just seem to find them less pleasant than Euros. I could see Bang! going poorly with this group. We've got a player who is slower at everything than everyone else. We have a player who loves to screw his neighbor. So it seems like that would go poorly with a definite pecking order developing.
Shadows I've not taken as a party game. I hope to play it eventually.

I'm not a fan of party games either, but last night I played Dixit for the first time. One of the players has very bad AP tendencies, and he played along just fine. We all laughed and had fun with it. We only had 4, but I'd love to see this played with a full 6. Give it a try if you get the chance. It might be a nice surprise for you.

Dixit is definitely on my list. I do my best to try before I buy on board games but I'mitching to get that one. I think my family (parents, in-laws, etc) would love it and since I'm usually charged with bringing games to family gatherings it's something I want in my collection.
