The joys of plastic

Opening up my brand new Classic Battletech Introductory Box Set box, it reminded me what a sucker I am for nice little plastic pieces. Between the two of us, I'll admit I've sometimes purchased a game purely for the plastic bits, regardless of how the game plays.

A few of my favourites have been Memoir '44 (tankies and soldiers), Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game (superior to the Zombies figures and a much better game), and Warlords of Europe (takes ages to play, but those little medieval chaps look great as I stare at them over several hours of gameplay).

So ... any suggestions for other plastic goodness that I might be tempted to part with my hard earned over? I'm usually expecting them to be toting guns or swords, but I'm thinking purely of boardgame pieces, not miniatures games. My wallet thanks you in advance.

The 2006 edition of Cave Troll has a nice assortment of pieces for the price.

Good call! I recall the wraith mini being particularly nice. I used to play a fair bit of Cave Troll, should probably look it up again. Cheers for that suggestion.

Conquest of the Empire. So many legionnaires, cav, caesars, generals, catapults and galleys that they barely fit in the box.

All said and done the Starship Troopers figures are very nice, but a bit fragile and hard to store. Some assemble required...

Shogun/Samurai Swords (MB edition) - Lots of great bits, good game!

Conquest of Empire (MB edtion) - Lots of great bits, good game if house rules about catapults.

Descent: Journeys in the Dark & World of Warcraft the Boardgame - Butt loads of figs/monsters and expansions for both, and good games besides.

Tide of Iron - Great game, Great bits, and really more fun than Memoir if just slightly less simple. And the Russian expansion just came out.

Buck Rogers - Good old game, and a mass of plastic bits. Some unusual items in gameplay, but pretty cool game.

Battle Masters, Hero Quest, - Bunch of plastic figs, not quite so nice by todays standards but pretty cool, and very good play for sub-adults.

Heroscape - Kicks butt for youngsters to oldsters for great figs/buildable terrain board. Simple quick game, but quite fun.

History of the World - (Later Avalon Hill/Hasbro edition) Really cool bunch of bits for the different eras. Great game also in either edition but for the figs have to get the later edition.

Dark Tower & Lionheart - Cool bits, but games are kinda so-so.

If you like Risk (which I've not played for years, and probably never would again) the 40th(?) Anniversary edition has really nice Metal figs. I got it cheap at the fleamarket just for the figs.

Oh, and I almost forgot Nexus Ops! - Great Game!!! And really cool figs too in I think 6 different styles and 4 colors (if memory serves me corretly).

OK also Battle Lore (Great bunch of figs, and realy cool game) and also Battle Cry (the least in the Command and Colors system IMHO) also nice figs.... but both related to Memoir 44.

... And for slight braggin' rights, the original (2nd edition) Talisman had available really nice metal figs for all the characters, and I've almost got all mine painted up. cool
And I've seen some now (plastic) available for Arkham Horror, which I'd jump on if I wasn't going through some financial challanging times.

Another good one is Twilight Imperium. The space ships are fantastic. If you put two War Suns together it looks like a mini Death Star.

After a bit of browsing I've added Cyclades to my wishlist ... thanks for the suggestions. I'd been after a Greek myth game for a while and this itches my plastics scratch too. Now I just need to find a copy....
