After two weeks of all night games (not that I mind at all), we had a night of fairly short games:

First, waiting for everyone to turn up, we played Chrononauts, a game full of interweving complex strategies, easy forward planning and ... , ok, at that point I can't keep a straight face. This game is horribly random, and I like randomness in games! I won't ask to play this again, but might if everyone else is desperate.

After this, we found we had 6 players and only a handful of 6 player games, and only 2 that most people would play, 7 Wonders which we decided not to play as we had too long to play it, and Imperial which wasn't announce until we didn't have enoguh time. So we split into two threes, one played Hansa Teutonica, which looked stereotypically Euroy.

I was on the table that played Space Hulk: Death Angel - The Card Game, a fun coop, which we lost on the last die roll (curses!). This game is tough (but then again it should be as a pure coop) and it seems to play quite quickly, we finished before the Hansa table, and I had a gander at what they were doing, it looked interesting, if it's a possible another week, I mgiht have a go at it.

After these, our 6 re-merged, and we played 3 games of 7 Wonders. Which should say a lot about it's replayability. But I've said enough about 7 Wonders in my other posts here.

I only get to game face to face on Mondays, so I'm thinking of getting into playing some games solitaire. What do people suggest is the "best" game (preferably from the games I own) to play solitaire?
Why (or why not) do you play solitaire?

Hansa Teutonica is nothing if not "stereotypically Euroy", however it's also nothing if not totally awesome cool

Solo gaming is more of a 'how well can I do' type of thing for me - can I beat my high score, or how many points can I score with this start? There is a puzzle aspect to it. I'd say I'd play Agricola from your collection, but since you prefer its cousin, perhaps Le Havre? Co-ops could work too (Arkham Horror?) though you'd probably need to play a couple of characters to have a chance.

Hi Gareth,

Both Agricola & Le Havre play well solo and have excellent computer implementations that you will find in the relevant files sections. I actually think that 'Loyang' has the strongest solo game out of the three with the most replayability. Give it a try.

I think at least a couple of your games have SoloPlay variants:

Arkham with 2-4 investigators. Death Angel.

I play solo because people just piss me off and get in the way of the game... Just kidding.

I play solo because I can't get the group together that I would like to play the games I'd like as often... as I'd like.

As such, solo-play has been a major deciding factor in my recent purchases.

People just don't have gaming as high on their priority list as I'd like them to. Work, jobs, families, distance, women...

"You've changed, man... It used to be about the GAMES!"

I also play solo to explore mechanics and learn strategies, to familiarize myself with rules, and to escape and meditate in a somewhat active and engaging manner.
