Dice Hate Me

I’m Chris. I play games. Lots and lots of games. I created Dice Hate Me as a place where I can talk about and review games, preview upcoming titles, write ridiculous and (sometimes) humorous things, and generally spread some paper and boardgaming love. Dice Hate Me is more than just a title, though – it’s a gaming lifestyle. You see, I have really bad dice karma. I’m pretty lucky in life, but hand me a pair of dice in a game and I’m dead meat. I’m the guy that always lands on Boardwalk when somebody owns it. I’m the guy that never gets a Yahtzee. Yeah, I’m the guy that avoids the craps table in Vegas as if it were a minor demon. Still, even though dice hate me, I love them. The little bastards.

The State of Games, Episode 6 is self-aware! But perhaps we're getting ahead of ourselves. In this episode, we sit down for a scholarly chat with literature professor and board game designer extraordinaire, Alf Seegert! Alf talks to us about his new gaming venture, The Road to Canterbury (and the current Kickstarter campaign), as well as a brief history of religious doctrine and literature, Monty Python, the Twitterization of society and getting crushed by giant balls. All this, Through the Ages, and a robot Monkey becomes self-aware. Saints preserve us.

Always a good show, man. Great interview with Alf. This totally sold me on The Road to Canterbury and I backed it that day. Now I just need to get ahold of Alf's other games.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm glad you got to experience Trollhalla and Bridge Troll.

Now this one, after painfully listening to episode 7, was really entertaining!

Interesting game, Road to C., interesting guest, beautiful art on the game! I'd totally missed this game on my radar. Sadly the game loses me when Lust, was replaced by Luxury, as that just doesn't fit the theme at all, and is obviously a bow to the PC folks that I've always kept at several arms lengths away! arrrh

Going to have to also now look into Gryphon Games. They do sound interesting.

Nice comments on Through the Ages, great game, one that I think will be a classic someday. And fun nostagic on Whodunit, and T & T versis D & D.
But you'll never see me on Twitter or Face snore
