How to Beef Up a Postcard

First, let me say how beat-my-head-against-the-wall frustrated I am with Dungeon Designer. Ok, probably not Dungeon Designer so much as Windows...

Nearing the end of the making it pretty phase of the prototype we've been working on, and Dungeon Designer completely crapped out. More specifically, Windows stopped playing nice with it. I've spent the better part of the past week trying to get it to work again -- all to no avail. At least I still have the project files, so the work isn't lost. (It's just inaccessible.)

To console myself, I've been working on a few PnP projects I've had sitting on the sidelines. One of them was the deluxe version of Postcard from the Revolution. I went whole-hog on this -- made the box, and did up the counters on blocks.

I forgot to take photos when I first started this project, so my only "in progress" photo is this one, where I'm coating the counters with lacquer:

The box is just printed cardstock, then laminated with clear contact paper:

Here's the full set (with both the Brandywine and Germantown maps barely visible in the back):

And here's a shot of the inaugural game:

For anyone not familiar with this game, it is a great little PnP wargame. It's really simple and quick to play -- I'm using it to introduce my 6-year-old to wargames.
