Here is a deck I have been fiddling around with and testing quite successfully on VASSAL.
First let us take a look at the card list. It contains both cards from the already available Basic Set of Elemental Clash as well as various cards from the upcoming Expansion Set, Underworld. For reference you can find the full cardlists for both sets on http://ap.o-nan.org! So here comes the decklist for the “Bone Crusher” (BS stands for Basic Set, UW for Underworld):
Decklist:
Creatures………….12
3 x Loam Shaman (UW)
3 x Venus Toad (BS)
3 x Carrion Maggot (UW)
3 x Carrion Feeder (UW)
Spells………………..13
3 x Bloody Tribute (UW)
2 x Excavate (BS)
3 x Elemental Ritual (BS)
3 x Jupiter’s Protection (BS)
2 x Soul Surge (BS)
Element Stones……….15
3 x Hastestone (BS)
7 x Venus Stone (BS)
5 x Jupiter Stone (BS)
Strategy: Get a head start with early resource acceleration in the form of Venus Toad and the powerful Elemental Ritual which lets you put into play 2 Basic Element Stones (resources) immediately. If you got a good draw you can easily have 5 element stones in play by turn with this deck.
The backbone of the deck are Carrion Maggot and Carrion Feeder from the upcoming Expansion Set “Underworld”. Carrion Maggot gets a +1 ATK and +1 DEF counter for each Creature which you remove from your discard pile (Archive) while Feeder gets a +2 ATK bonus until the end of your turn for each Creature card removed from your Archive. So the plan basically is to sit back and watch how your opponent chops away at your Spellbook and puts more and more Creature cards into your Archive. When a critical mass is reached you drop your Maggot or Feeder and swing for a massive attack. To make sure it hits bull’s-eye, I splashed Air in this otherwise strictly Earth deck just for Jupiter’s Protection. Jupiter’s Protection is a Spell that makes all of your Creatures unblockable for one turn. So the opponent’s bulwarks and carefully set up defense lines won’t stop your fierce ambush.
Also I added Hastestones, which give Quickattacker to every Creature played to the Element Stone Pile it sits in, so that you can have your opponent neglect his defense only to hit him hard with a quickattacking Feeder or Maggot.
There is also a nice synergy between Bloody Tribute and another of your Maggot fodder, erm, small critters: Loam Shaman lets you return 2 cards from your Archive to the bottom of your Spellbook. Overall Bloody tribute is a great card in this deck, not only because it has the “Boon” ability, but because it kills one of your Creatures and one of your opponents. Having Creatures in your Archive is a good thing in the “Bone Crusher”.
Use Excavate to recover Maggots and Feeders, if you discarded all or lost them to enemy attacks or direct damage, or any other utility card you may want.
One more card needs to be mentioned: Soul Surge. Soul Surge is a Permanent Spell that gives you the option to draw 1 card each time one of your Creatures dies, giving you a huge deal of card advantage. Fortunately, in this deck a lot of your small (and big) critters will die. Also, the resource acceleration discussed earlier makes Soul Surge, being a Level III Permanent Spell, all the more viable.
Well, so much for my first "Decks with Andi" article. Hope you liked it. If so, thumb and subscribe. More to come...
