If you didn't take them seriously with their hex and counter beer brawl, Keg Bearer, perhaps you should look again. Snowpunch has two more games Musket Smoke and Grognards, in the pipeline and they're starting to look more like actual war games.

Musket Smoke -

• Orions 2: The Deckmasters Released - May 18
Orions 2: The Deckmasters, the hotly anticipated sequel to Moregames Entertainment's card-based battle game, Orions: Legend of Wizards, has finally released. It's made for iPhone and priced at $2.99 with a "mini" version available for free. To celebrate it's release, Moregames has dropped the price of Orions: Legend of Wizards from $4.99 to $0.99, an historic price drop to an all-time low.

• Tix Release Delayed Slightly
We've been informed that the release of the iOS app of Tix has been delayed slightly due to reasons both personal and private. They're now planning to submit the app with Apple today, and hopefully have it in the App Store this Thursday.

• Carcassonne Updated to Version 2.20
The Coding Monkeys have updated one of the best iOS board games on the planet. Now with Game Center support, achievements and more. Unfortunately it looks like there will be a longer wait for game expansions, but that's just Coding Monkey style. Take your time, do it right. Check it out:
Coding Monkeys wrote:
What's New in Version 2.20

NEW
• Use Game Center to play against your friends
• 43 Achievements that can be unlocked
• A variety of new Leaderboards
• Share scores on Twitter and Facebook
• Invite previous opponents
• Easier account switching via Game Center

IMPROVED
• Corrected a rare ELO scoring bug
• Improved stability
• Improved chat reliability
• Show chat time stamps
• Improved power consumption
• Sync progress overlay

WHAT'S NEXT?
We have made good progress laying the foundations for all expansions and getting the game to a point were it can be played in a more modular fashion to support cherry-picking rules and features of expansions in the future. The first two, that we are polishing right now, will be “Inns and Cathedrals” and “The River II”. It will still take us a few months to make them as good as we want them to be, however.

Yeah, it sure takes us a lot of time to get these things done. We're sorry for making you wait. We love the game and think it deserves the time to make it truly great, instead of doing a quick but sloppy port, like it unfortunately happens so often on other platforms and to others of our favorite board games. We want to do better. Thanks for having the patience to let us do so.

(Note: The Coding Monkeys released v.2.21 soon after to quickly fix the crash on launch some users were getting with 2.20 update.)

Italian publisher Cranio Creations has posted a screen shot of their upcoming iPad version for the corruption-horse racing themed game, Horse Fever set in the 1930s. They will release a second edition of its initial 2009 release Horse Fever in June 2011. No date other than "soon" has yet been posted for the release of the app.

• Skotos Releases Modern Art: The Card Game - May 20
Again seeming to come from nowhere, Skotos has released their 4th Knizia app and 5th card game app for iOS overall, Reiner Knizia's Modern Art: The Card Game. The app is for iOS Universal and priced at $2.99.

• Indie Boards and Cards Seeking Developer for Haggis - May 20
Travis Worthington of Indie Boards and Cards, and also a friend from my local game group, dropped me a line this weekend to see if we could help his search for an iDevice developer for Haggis. He is particularly interested in a developer who can meet the challenge of developing an AI for this game that is tricky to play well.

Regarding Haggis... I don't know what his plans are for new development but try and talk to Steve Blanding:

Steve has already created an engine that plays Mu and Tichu, so Haggis might be a next project that interests him.

Terrible shame - your card games are the best implemented conversions for IoS available in my opinion.

Travis' plight brings up a good point though, where do we go to get iOS games developed? I had not luck trying to find one in the forums here, so my next attempt to find a Table Gype developer was going to be elance or rentacoder.

Excellent catch this one. Lucky I didn't buy it now, but I might reconsider.

The text describing the game was rather cryptic I thought, and I wasn't sure what it was trying to say, but now I understand!

Yeah, it's getting very irritating. It's definitely reached the point where a bunch of folks won't even try to do one for the iphone any more.

Yeah, Modern Art is my all time favorite Euro.

Modern Art: the Card game I gave away after 2 plays and felt totally ripped off.

I dream about this. Only support a larger screen and fast devices... life would be easier But it is unlikely. iPhone/iPod Touch is much more profitable.

+1,000.

I have this down as "April" in my notes for some reason ... and, obviously, that was a piece of fiction.

Now May is almost over and I can't recall hearing a word anywhere. If anyone has an update, I'm eager to give away some GG ...

There is an app called simply "Score" which has modules for a number of games, inluding 7 Wonders.

I'm not trying to make a shameless plug here, but Brad C. pointed me here when I inquired with him about developers looking for licensing partners for bringing games to the iOS platform.

My company, IQ Foundry http://www.iqfoundry.com, is finishing up porting some of our games to iOS and is looking for game publishers and designers of Established titles to explore licensing and publishing opportunities on the iOS platform.

We specialize in great interactive experiences, and have an unhealthy attention to detail and polish, which I am seeing is lost a lot these days in many game ports.

If anybody is interested in talking about development of established, published games--both single player, multiplayer (same time or push like Carcassonne) as well as card or board-- I would be interested in opening up a conversation.

Best,

-Scott

Thumbs down to the Coding Monkeys update to Car(Crash)assonne.

I updated and experienced nothing but crashes and did the normal thing - delete the app and download it again. Now it won't recognize my account (supposed to send me an email to confirm my user ID but the app fails to send the email).

I've reinstalled the app several times now to no avail.

I've now got 5 games in progress with no apparent way to get my ID back. I even reported a problem to them at the Apple Store and got no response.

Any ideas?

I downloaded the second one, and DAMN, it's even better! YOU CAN PLAY OTHERS ONLINE!

When offline, you get messages saying the Achievements were completed, but when you get back online, the list of achievements does NOT get updated to reflect that yuk

Hopefully, the in game purchase for the expansions won't cost more than $4

I prefer Masters Gallery/Modern Art: CG to MA. It still retains many of the great things from MA, but without that tedious auction mechanism that drags the game twice as longer than it had to be. Plus, if it were MA, the game would be ruined if there weren't an option for a strong AI.
