Man, I'm bad at keeping the blog up-to-date.

So, about two weeks ago at the time of writing, we broke out our latest acquisition, the rather finely-produced Pastiche. John complained that it was quite difficult, although this might just have been a reference to the problems he had holding his cards. Anyway, Ben rattled off a pair of paintings which no-one prevented him snaffling up from the gallery and clocked up an easy win.

Tony arrived towards the end, reasonably impressed by a game he had hitherto assumed was not very good, and broke out Airships along with an order for ham, eggs and chips. His face full of pig bits and chicken ovulations, he grunted his way through the rules, which it appeared only Becky had really understood, as she methodically took the three men apart and swept an easy win. My attempts at a German accent to match my player board were widely derided as 'generic Pakistani'...

When you play boardgames in Ross, Agricola is never too far away. For once, we forsook the G- and K-decks, and went with an E-deck and I-deck mix. Tony thought he had things sewn up with his typical 'Kitchen Showroom' layout, but had his thunder stolen by a deserved win from John. Becky messed up early and had to resort to the Holiday Home, and my food-rich strategy neglected quite a silly number of spaces on the farm.

We broke out the pub menus to act as money-shields, and played another Ross-on-Wye favourite, the delicious Modern Art, or at least my adaptation of Master Gallery into Modern Art rules, which is possibly even a slight improvement. It seemed to make sense to bookend the evening with two art games, and I'm never averse to a themed games day. As usual, no-one had any idea who was winning pretty much all the way through, and the game turned out an honourable tie between Ben and John.
