Summer. When there are so many other things to do outside than sit inside. But, it doesn't stop me...at least on Tuesday's.
Yesterday, we celebrated Chris' birthday (which is today). It was only Kevin, Chris and myself. Well, Rian, my son, joined us for the first game and the Delafield Amber beer I picked up last week. Since it was his birthday, he got to pick games. The first game we played was Funny Friends (which is one of Rian's faves so he joined us). A bit of review and we were immersed into puberty. I dont' remember tons of details that could make this an awesome little write up, but I know I was quite the sad, angry and lonely character. I dated Pass Around Peggy briefly (she got her nickname from the last game). This was after Rian slept with her once, impregnated her and had a love child. Rian, after lots of drugs, starting up a cult, getting into rock and roll, cleaning up his act, ended up reaching his goals, partly by marrying his baby's mama, Pass Around Peggy, claiming the Sex Maniac mega goal and ultimately winning the game. This is one of those games that you have to play loose and not try too hard. You lose the fun if you do.
Rian disappeared and the three of us searched for a game. Had to be Chris Approved, as it was his birthday (but he didn't know what to play). An oldie came out, Hare & Tortoise. I played it once or twice some time ago but it was easy enough to teach and play, so we did. I had a nice lead but tried to get benefit of the Hare and it tossed me back to the pack. Chris worked on eating his lettuce quickly and then he just took off and ultimately won. Not by as much as I thought, he had to dump carrots before he could win which allowed Kevin and I to catch up to make it look reasonable. Kevin then finished up so it was Chris for the win, Kevin second and me left looking at the turtle's ass. A lot of interesting stuff going on in this race game. We talked about bringing it out with six as we think it would be nasty and cool. This game holds up well, I think.
We had time, so we again searched the shelves for the perfect game. Not sure if we found it, but we brought out Traumfabrik. I had played this a few times (one of the early games I owned) but it had been awhile. The game is easy enough and off we went, making movies. The older version just looks so nice...real actors, real pics of the actors, real movies. It was cool (especially if you know your movies from that time - I know some, Chris seemed to know a lot more). The worst movie was The Grapes of Wrath staring Betty Grable and Rita Moreneo.
Yeah.
Experience in the game does count for something as I ended up running away with the game with 109. Chris had 87 and Kevin had 70. It played very well with three. I know it plays well with more, too. Perhaps this one will come out again?
You know what, we forgot The Skull for Chris. Next time Chris. Next time.
