It's been a busy couple of months and I haven't made as much progress as I hoped on Dire Heroes. While the 'design kit' vassal module is pretty solid and could be released the rules are fully written.

I've also run into a block when it comes to publishing any new scenarios in a book form like the original...tiles. The new scenarios require trench tiles (and a lot...at different angles). While easily done on Vassal, it posses a serious problem in the physical.

I appreciate the support that the community has provided and welcome any suggestions or comments on moving forward to bring more Great War battles to light.

I used brown road tiles for trenches in my Saint-Mihiel 1918 scenario:

For me, it was an acceptable substitute... and I'm fussy about my scenarios.

Excellent suggestion Pete, thanks!

I'll have a look at the tiles to see if there would be enough.

(ps - great work on the scenarios, interesting ideas!)

It could be possible to make a page with a lot of trenches on it that could be cut out and laid on the board. Not the ideal solution, but it would give players the option of using them.
Probably make this a free download here on bgg and just include a note about it in any purchasable playbooks if you do that.

Thanks ad79, after reviewing the number of road tiles as Pete suggested, I see that it would be quite short. As much as I wanted to avoid a print and cut option, right now it appears to be the only way.

How about using some low (thick) gauge wire and bending it to make several angles?

Also a good idea...I'll have to try this out myself. Thanks StevenE!

String and blue tack might also work.
