100th win at Blue Max

I’ve been playing Blue Max online at the excellent www.youplay.it website. I used to play a lot of Richthofen's War but missed out on the boardgame version of Blue Max, so playing online has been an interesting diversion (at lunchtime only, of course!). Over the years I've enjoyed Wings of War: Famous Aces, Wings of War: Miniatures, and Biplane Barmy among others, but playing online has opened up a whole new world of opponents to shoot me down.

Anyway, I logged in today to find that I’d finally won my 100th game. Huzzah!

Any guesses at how many games it took overall to reach 100 wins? 558. So I have about a one in five and a half win ratio. No, I wouldn’t want me on my side, either.

Usually I enjoy flying the Sopwith Triplane - having lived close to the Shuttleworth Collection (www.shuttleworth.org/shuttleworth-collection/aircraft.asp) I’ve always been fond of Sopwiths. This probably hasn’t helped me to win games, having only one gun and no tail to speak of, but recently I’ve been cracking on with a few other aircraft, and the 100th win came in an Albatros DIII (much nicer than the DV for me). And it just so happened that I shot down four Sopwith Triplanes to gain the win. Poor tripehounds.

So, here’s to the next 558 games and my 200th victory! If you’re online and discover that you’ve just shot down a pilot named ‘Jammed’, well, you’ll be a member of a less than exclusive club of pilots who’ve got the better of me (on 458 occasions and counting).

Congrats - youplay.it can be somewhat addictive :-)

The Tripe is certainly one of the tougher planes to fly. I highly recommend the league play on youplay.it

It's a great way to a bunch of scenarios - playing both sides.

My current addiction is flying DIIIs against Bristols

Come join my in league 7400 if you are interested

Jammed, congratulations! I've played with and/or against you many times. I love the game, but I find myself impatient when it comes to players that only play their turns one day per week and games end up running 5 months. I too have gone down with the triplane, but live to tell the tale.
