There were 4 of us. Colin and I started with a hand of German Whist while waiting for Sami to finish putting our baby to bed. Then we played a 3 player game of Alhambra, where Sami had the most amazing luck at the start, which was hard to beat! Bizarrely I managed to get second place or joint first place in all 6 colours at the final scoring, but it wasn’t enough to beat Sami’s mega-score. We then pulled out Boomtown, which we hadn’t played in a while – and it was my turn for some luck, as my mine numbers were rolled rather more than anyone else’s!

Then Richard arrived, desperate to play Galaxy Trucker again, so we got that out. I managed to win again, with Colin’s most beautiful small damaged ship taking the second place off Sami in exactly the same way as I did last week! Richard was starting to get the hang of building ships that didn’t fall apart too badly, but being slower he did find that with 4 players he often didn’t get the best selection of components!

Next I chose Shipyard, which is a real favourite of mine that I hadn’t played in a couple of months. Sami managed to get a great combination of contracts going for high scores at the end, and won, while the rest of us were trying to play guessing games as to which contracts Colin had, as it really wasn’t obvious (and naturally he didn’t score much off them as a result!).

We finished up with Dorn, another one Richard has taken a liking too. We picked up two artifacts easily, but Sami appeared with a posse of monsters to try and stop us getting the third. We managed pretty well to cope with the first wave of monsters, levelling up nicely and not taking too much damage, but then Sami managed to speed his second wave up unexpectedly, and took out my full-strength hero in one attack! That turned out to be his last stand though, as shortly after we managed to get to the central room with three artifacts and win.

It's a 5 or 6 hour session, and we play pretty fast, so we can usually get two or three big games in, along with a few fillers.
