There were just 4 of us. We started with Factory Fun, then Cosmic Eidex (Brain Fry!), while waiting for James to turn up, rather later than usual due to traffic problems, which meant my brain fried more than normal! We then played Crude: The Oil Game as our first proper game of the night - Colin’s refining strategy was definitely the way forward, with the dice loving me and hating James, so our identical petrol starts went rather differently during the game itself!

Next came Outpost, with Colin going for some rather invisible research, while Sami and I fought for the titanium strategy. I had to discard a 3 Ore card one turn due to handlimit issues, which meant Sami beat me by 2 bidding for an Orbital Lab – and that proved the turning points for Sami’s game – he did a similar thing two turns later, because of his extra Orbital Lab income, and from then on the first two places were pretty much decided, with the other two playing catch-up behind us, as the research cards finally appeared, too late. After that we pulled out Saint Petersburg, which turned out to be an Observatory game – both Observatory players doing very well on aristocrat types compared to the other two of us. Our last proper game of the evening was Nefertiti, which was new to James, but he still managed to win – with Sami absolutely miles behind!! We finished with a quick Race for the Galaxy.
