A look into the future: Spellforce and Salvage

With Elemental Clash Expansion Set 1 "Underworld" already available in the TOG shop, I already am playtesting the next expansion set "Spellforce". Spellforce will be all about Spell cards and have significantly more Spells and less Creatures than its predecessors.
Spellforce will also bring you several new and exciting abilities, one of which I want to highlight in this short article: SALVAGE.

Here the rules text for the new Salvage ability:

Salvage: If you put a card with "Salvage" from your hand onto your Archive, you may play it for free immediately. A Creature is put either into its owner’s ATK- or DEF-Zone and a Spell is put onto its owner’s Archive. Element-Stones are put into the Element-Stone-Zone.

Here is a little preview of a card from Spellforce with the Salvage ability. (Yes, this is how my playtesting prototypes look like ;D )

Salvage is pretty similar to the popular Boon ability, only that you can play a Spell/Creature/Element-Stone for free when it is discarded from your hand to your Archive. On the one hand you can use it when your opponent forces you to discard cards from your hand. On the other hand, and that is by far the more powerful option, you can run a lot of what I like to call it "Salvage Enablers" in your deck. Salvage enablers let you discard cards as a drawback or cost for a special effect. The Creature "Cumulus" and the Permanent-Spell "Burning Thoughts" from Expansion 1 are prime candidates for that kind of tricks. Cumulus lets you discard a card any time for a benefit of +1 ATK and +2 DEF until end of turn while Burning Thoughts lets you discard a card at any time to deal 1 damage to target Creature or Player. If you discarded a Fire card, you may deal 2 damage instead.

So here is a little decklist I put together for a deck exploiting the new Salvage ability. It is still untested - hope that will change soon.
I will divide up the decks in Salvage cards, Salvage enablers and Element Stones. Look for the cardlists on http://ap.o-nan.org for card lists for Underworld and Spellforce (Spoiler Warning )

BS stands for Basic Set, UW for Underworld, SF for Spellforce...

Salvage.dec:

Salvage cards...14

3 x Restock (SF)
3 x Spark Spirit (SF)
2 x Fiery Bolt (SF)
3 x Flowering Wall (SF)
3 x Salvager Stone (SF)

Salvage Enablers...14

3 x Goblin Cadet (UW)
3 x Cumulus (UW)
3 x Arcane Teachings (UW)
3 x Burning Thoughts (UW)
2 x Wind of Change (UW)

Other Element Stones...12

3 x Plasmastone (UW)
4 x Venus Stone (BS)
5 x Mars Stone (BS)

Note that I am playing 6 Earth cards (Restocks and Flowering Walls) while not playing any Earth energy sources. This is possible through the Salvage ability. Also you can pull off some very mean tricks using Burning Thoughts and Salvage cards as I stated above. If you discard a Spark Spirit (3 ATK, 1 DEF, Quickattacker, destroy at end of turn) to Thoughts you can deal 5 damage at the only investment of discarding one card (the Spirit) as soon as turn 1.

Well we will see how the deck fares against power decks like mono Earth "Stronghold" and mono Water resource control. The deck has a very low card level ratio, so I am confident it will do fine against the latter! Will keep you updated!

As always, keep on clashing!
