Back from Europe and back to Painting

I got back from my in Europe a few days ago, had a great time there. I saw London, Stonehenge, Normandy (including Omaha and Point du Hoc), the Brittany region of France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany.

Instead of painting models, I actually got to play a few games with my cousin. I played through a game of Axis and Allies which resulted with the Germans taking over the world. Moscow held out longer than England and the Americans landed in Africa instead of invading Normandy. Memoir '44 was fun, the Omaha beach with the Omaha Beach Map being terribly broken, but with the expansions, it was a blast.

Enough about my trip, now time for some models.

First wave of Dust Tactics models in. In the next month I will probably have painted a thousand of these. That's a core box, gorillas, Grim Reapers, and the SeeLow set. I am expecting 2 more Core Boxes, 11 more Gorilla boxes, and a complete 250 point Allied Army with 4 Light Walkers.

A Test Scheme for Ryan Clarke's German Army:

My German Army so far:

And for something a bit different, here's a sneak peek at some of the models I'm entering in SuperCon 2011.

The WiP bench:

And a few of the models:
Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII. I got this as a PrePainted model over in England, but I repainted her, she's about 50% done:

Pippin from Lord of the Rings:

Bad photo of a 1/25 scale German Infantryman:

Captain Razig from my Warlord Army:

Vietcong Guerilla Fighter. There's a Vietnam Theme award so hopefully I can win that:

Imperial Guard Officer:

Imperial Fists Army that I've had for awhile:

Surrender!

And slightly off topic, but here's what some of the German bunkers left over from WWII look like:

That was a pretty long post, but as always C&C Welcome! Thanks for Reading!

For those who asked me, here's what I'm going have painted on here in the future:

Dust Tactics Core Box
Dust Tactics Gorilla Army
Dust Tactics 101st Airborne Army
Dust Tactics Allied Army in Winter Scheme
Dust Tactics German Army in Winter Scheme
Earth Reborn
Dungeons and Dragons Monsters
1-48 Combat
Lord of The Rings Mines of Moria
Warhammer 40,000 Assault on Black Reach
Super Duneon Explore!
Warhamchine 2-Player Set.

These look awesome. I try to paint miniatures. I have the hardest time on the skin. I paint the miniatures on boardgames and often the faces and hands are tiny and it is difficult to know how to get shading when you have very little relief.

Even on the rest of the figure. I find it hard to get the shading due to how small the detail is. I note your pippin miniature. Was this just drv brushing and black ink or was there more to it?

Good job!

Wow...You are a painting machine! I cannot believe how many Dust models you have to paint! The test scheme is looking really nice, by the way.

Cheers!

Thanks. It is difficult sometimes to paint faces on board game models if they have less detail. If it has more detail, you can just put a wash in it. I find Anime figures like Lightning to be difficult because her skin is so flat. For Pippin I tired using inks which I normally don't do. For the highlights, I layered the base color and blended it to a lighter color.

Hope that helps!

Oooh, I know what that's like...ever tried to paint Talisman figures? They are sooo hard to get looking right, especially because the hands on some of the models are smaller than the head of a push-pin!

Nice to hear you made it over to the UK Nam. Hope that the weather was kind to you.

I've been slacking on my painting recently but clocking this post has given me some motivation!

Like the Axis test scheme. This was the stumbling block for me. Your pic has given me some ideas.

Axis troops here I come...

Have you seen these by the way:

Yes the weather there is very nice, a lot better than the 100 (40 C) degree temperatures in Texas. Glad to be of help. I have a few more Germans to post later.

Yes, I have seen those, maybe 2 per army for me? Those Heavy Walkers look really great.
