we played Puerto Rico again today, a four-player game this time with my wife joining in. Our three-player game yesterday ended when the supply of victory points was exhausted - today they hardly moved and the game ended when we ran out of settlers. It was encouraging to see the game go so differently when we are still inexperienced with it, boding well for its future replayability.
afterwards I taught my 7yo son to play Schotten-Totten. He got the rules but not the strategy and I doubt he'll be asking for it again anytime soon.
finally I pulled out Girl Genius: The Works, a game I don't think I've touched since initially playing it after purchase about seven years ago. Its card-spinning mechanic is unique in my experience, and the wide range of different cards reminds me a little of GOSU (a firm favourite of my 12yo son). I played two-player games against each of my sons - neither showed signs of loving it at first play but I think they were keen enough that it'll hit the table again this month..
