Cardgame in the making + possible re-theme

I know someone who asked me to help him create 9 card templates for his card game. The setting is XVIII. century.

I am not a pro, so I can only hope that the outcome will be satisfying for others not just for me. It is good for me, as I can practice my skills.

Also I am thinking about another re-theme for a game where the theme was putting some people off. I have 2 ideas for a re-theme. Something more decent than 4 evil gods ruining the world. You know which game it is...

I like the game a lot, but it is only the best if people know about Warhammer.

I know, this is not much info, but as soon as I have something to show, I will post it here.

Possible options for the re-theme of Chaos in the Old World. Still just a brainstorming phase...

-------------------
Idea 1: Garden...
There was a picknick in the garden and the leftovers are just to tantalizing to be left there.
The insects from the hedge descend onto the garden to claim the prize.

Possible teams if I only want insects:
- Ants: worker, winged, queen
- Flyers: fly, wasp, dragonfly
- Bugs: ladybug, dung beetle, stag beetle
- hoppers: cricket, locust, mantis
- spiders: jumping spider, garden spider, wasp spider
-------------------
Idea 2: Dune2
Fight to control the territories and harvest as much spice as possible.
Noble tokens are Fremen. Skaven tokens are sandworms.
Teams: Emperor, Atreides, Harkonnen, Ordos
(footsoldiers, buggy, harvester)
-------------------
Idea 3: Westeros
When there were 5 kings, the smallfolk suffered a lot from the foragers and patrols from all sides.

Teams: lannisters, stark, Stannis - Dragonstone, Renly - Storm's End, Greyjoy

-------------------
Idea 4: dinosaurs
This theme is used a lot of times. Maybe overused.

- giant herbivors (e.g. Brontosaurs)
- normal herbivores (e.g. Triceratops)
- carnovores (e.g. T-rex)
- flyers (pterodactyl)

I like the Westeros re-theme most, because I felt rather unsatisfied with the narrative of the FFG's Game of Thrones games. While I don't want the games to follow the source material slavishly, the inclusion of the Targaryens into the card game and the fact that Lannister and Stark usually don't meet in the board game don't sit right with me. A Chaos in the Old World re-theme might just be the right thing.

Dune might also work very well, but it already has a decent game, the customisation of which has become some kind of hobby for creative minds. Westeros might therefore allow for a fresher perspective.

Having discovered your pandemic re-theme thread only recently, I'm really looking forward to your next project.

A warhammer 40K re-theme would also be easy. With the races, not the gods.

Or even Starcraft...

Terran, Zerg, Protoss, Xel naga?

ruination token could be mining tokens.

my problem again is that playing a Westeros/Starcraft/whatever themed Chaos in the Old World would only be the best fun if the players knew the setting. Without this knowledge the play experience is less than it should be or discouraging like with the Old World chaos gods.

Another issue is to create small cards...

So, I keep thinking.
