There were 5 of us, but one arrived slightly late. We started with Troyes, which we hoped to get in before picking Matt up from the station, but didn’t quite manage it, as we needed almost a full rules explanation as it had been so long since we’d played! James got off to a great start, getting a nice yellow card combo, acquiring money and buying VPs. However, the break, in which we played Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age, which I won, his game seemed to go downhill, as everyone managed to take the yellow dice off him, and I just squeaked a victory over him.

After that we went for our first 5 player of the evening, Around the World in 80 Days. Sami went fast at the start, while Matt and Colin were fighting to be at the back and getting a bit left behind. Colin made a sudden spurt forwards, and it was looking a bit like Matt was going to be left behind, but he managed to hold us up enough to catch up. James was the only one who managed to finish in a reasonable number of days to beat Sami though – he had a 3 dice rolls to get a 1 for the win, but had to settle for a 2 and second place in the end.

We then wanted lighter fare so went for Ave Caesar, where the first two races were voided from people blowing up, and I had a disaster in every race! We finished with 7 Wonders, where Matt proved that Mausoleum B is not an auto-win, by losing horribly! James won, getting a nice mix of everything and leaving Matt saying “But I just never saw any good cards!”.
