Past Future News: Titles Coming from Fantasy Flight Games in October 2011

As Lee Fisher pointed out in the news announcement about the scheduled November 2011 releases from Fantasy Flight Games, news about the October releases were nowhere to be seen on BGG News. Whether that information made a detour to my spam box or was deleted in an in-box clearing frenzy, I can't say.

In any case, I've now received the following list of FFG titles bearing an October 2011 release, starting with a biggie that many gamers have been waiting on for more than a year: Blood Bowl: Team Manager - The Card Game. That's the only standalone game on the calendar; everything else is an expansion in one form or another.

Expansion for a big box game
-----Runewars: Banners of War

Expansions for Living Card Games
-----A Game of Thrones: The Card Game - Tourney for the Hand
-----Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game - Dunwich Denizens
-----Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game - The Breathing Jungle
-----The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game - Return to Mirkwood
-----Warhammer: Invasion - The Iron Rock

Expansions for other titles
-----Dust Tactics: "Heavy Recon Grenadiers" - Schwer Sturmgrenadiere Ausf. A
-----Dust Tactics: "Red Devils" - British Paratroops, 3rd Para Brigade
-----Tannhäuser: Itami

I was able to pick up a copy of Blood Bowl: Team Manager - The Card Game at Gencon this year and I have really enjoyed it. I reccommend that people give it try.

Lord of the Ring: TCG - Return to Mirkwood? I was under the impression that was the final pack in the first cycle. Does that mean the other two are coming out between now and then? I'm confused.

See this text? It's a gratuitous waste of GeekGold.

The game itself isn't important. Spending time intellectually jousting with likeminded folks is the real reason to game.

Yes, it does.

The original schedule for the packs in the first cycle was one a month, starting with Hunt for Gollum in May and Return to Mirkwood in October. Hunt for Gollum was very late due to some production issues, so they're releasing the packs in this cycle every three to four weeks to make up for lost time.

Why? I'm pretty sure they want to have the first "big box" (150-200 cards) expansion out before Christmas. They haven't announced it yet, but I expect it in November.

The other two were scheduled for August and September originally I think. They may still be a bit behind.

I don't see the revised version of Arcana in any of those lists. On FFG's upcoming page it says that it is "on the boat", so I assume it should be relatively soon.

Arcana was on the list of August 2011 releases from FFG.

You, me and many others are still waiting for Gone Cardboard to return to help track all of this release date information, but the BGG tech guys have more pressing matters for now, not to mention the complication of figuring out how to create a dynamic and customizable calendar of release date information that integrates with the version system for games. Lots of details need to be blended into one tasty gumbo...
