3rd year of modern board gaming and I'm surprised how many discoveries about the hobby and community I keep learning. I think it's about every 6 months. Trading was a year ago, and the Thrift Guild quickly followed. I hadn't anticipated that the Thrift Guild doubled as an Ebay Guild, and the ebay:thrift conversation ratio last Christmas nearly did me in. My home is a place of child (4, one with special needs) rearing, conversation, rest and shelves. Hobbies must fit between the attention cycle and it's a struggle to find time for a 90 minute game. There is little room for the attention required for a good trade, let alone serfdom of maintaining a high feedback rating ebay account.
This year I'm trying to log game plays. Not hard, but requires a touch of discipline, and I hope I get 95%.
Here's an interesting example of logged games plays before BGG:
I like to play at least one medium to meaty game a weekend. This weekend missed that as we have some homework obligations and schedule conflicts with friends. Friday I did get in a fun game of Uno Wild Tiles with my older 3. I like Uno, and surprised at how I enjoyed this variant. A know end-point, and strategy opportunities. These are my guys playingPandemic a few years ago.
Note: When people say "With /n/ kids you must not have much time." That's not true, it's only your attention span that takes the hit.
