In my last blog post I mentioned that I'd play a couple of games this weekend to celebrate my Dux Bellorum rules being submitted to Osprey Publishing (out next year, order yours now
).
Well, I did manage a couple of games of Memoir '44 yesterday with one win and one close defeat. My tanks are NEVER as good as my opponent's. Or at least that's my excuse.
Today I played a solo game of Song of Blades and Heroes, using my own Song of Arthur and Merlin setting. The opposing forces were an Irish tag team of six dismounted Irish champions facing off across rocky ground against a dismounted Cymric British force of two champions and six warriors. In short, the Irish made mincemeat of the Britons.
The British champions advanced, and a couple of failed activations meant that when they turned around to utter a classic "follow me chaps!" to the warriors, no one was there.
The Irish rushed in, doubling up against the two British champions, resulting in two rapid Gruesome Kills against the Britons. Oh. Dear. Heads quite literally rolled.
The British warriors did make a half hearted attempt to tackle the Irish, but a couple of knock downs followed up with one more Gruesome Kill on a Briton led to a cascade of morale tests and several fleeing Britons. One more was killed with a Free Hack and the remaining three fled the board.
An easy win for the Irish (Savage is a pretty cool rule to use), humiliation for the Cymric Britons, and a nice relaxed half hour of gaming for me.
