Kevin and Timm were the first to stop by and with not expecting Chris and Jeff to arrive for a little bit, we were able to resume our game of Sheepshead. We got in probably about eight hands with all hands being pretty much average. Some good hands but no one held anyone to no schnitz. Sheepshead is always a good starter, we can play it before others arrive and continune on the next week. Over the past year or two, I have really begun to enjoy 3-handed more than 5-handed.
Chris arrived and Jeff was on his way, so be broke out King of Tokyo, that Kevin brought over, to kill time until Jeff arrived. Well, Jeff arrived sooner as we were just getting started, so we ran through the rules for Jeff and played a five player game. The game, to me, is King of the Hill. It's a dice game, simple, cool production, and enough fun in the short time it takes to play. I played it for the first time over the weekend at the Halloween Game-a-Thon and enjoyed it. I knew Kevin had a copy so I thought it would be a good filler some nights (playing up to six). Timm managed to stay in Tokyo at the end to get to twenty points for the win against Chris who had a ton of health left.
It had been a month and I really wanted to get the game to the table sooner than later, so I suggested Traders of Genoa. Chris agreed to play even tho it is not a favorite of his. A quick review of the rules and we were off and trading. In this game we all knew what we were doing from the start and the trading was interesting thoughout the game. We, as a group, started getting into more than just money offers. Our last game we mostly bid money but in this one we were using cards, goods, swapping. Much more dynamic this time. I, personally, really enjoy this game. I managed to make some good trades to get a ton of Priviledge cards and had enough cubes at the end of the game to make one more large delivery. I won the game with 965, Chris had 850, Timm had 770, Kevin had 760 (see Kevin, if Timm would not have took ownership of your building, he would have been behind you), and Jeff (the winner in the first game) had 710. It took us right about 2.5 hours without skipping any round.
