I know as soon as I pick this one up it's going to make me finally take the plunge and get into the books.

Thanks appreciate the kind words.

Paul my suggestion if you're starting with the books is don't read them in the order you find on most Wiki's but read them in the order they were written. So Crystal Shard first.

Just my thoughts on it.

Thanks for the tip Dan. My brother told me the same thing when I mentioned I might start reading them. Think I may just do that (especially since Crystal Shard is the only one I own at the moment).

OK, so I started to look into the books beyond The Crystal Shard and I can't find a list anywhere of the original publication order (just the book number order). Anyone have a link to a list of the original publication dates?

There is a list here but not in publication date order but it has the dates. I'm going to go back on what I said and say if you just flip the ice wind dale trilogy with the Dark Elf trilogy you will be fine.
