Republication of my blog post at http://vom-krieg.blogspot.com/

So i finally, after many many moons got around to finishing off all the hero characters in Descent, with all the expansions. 38 heroes and about 74 bazillion monsters in total.

The key to these guys was not painting to perfection, in all honesty the sculpts are a bit crap and trying to master paint a game as rough and tumble as descent is a collosal waste of time. In most cases its

1.) Spray
2.) Base coat
3.) Ink wash
4.) The old small detail here and there

The good thing about these characters is the colour palate is nice and varied, its also painting by numbers as you have the nice artwork to follow.

So here it is, all 18 heroes from the 3 expansions.

WELL OF DARKNESS

ALTAR OF DESPAIR

TOMB OF ICE

Wow! It's really amazing.

I would like my characters to be painted like that, but I do not have that kind of talent. I guess we can not be good at everything. Maybe I should try one of these days. Even poorly painted, it's better than gray I guess.

Do you wash with a color similar to the base coat or with a wash in particular for all colors?

Most of these were speed painted.

That is, a sprayed them black, painted the basic colours and then inked with a relevant colour ink.... or black or the citadel devlan mud which works well on most earthy tones.

I then did a little highlighting on some items, like robes, but I was able to put out 4-6 of these dudes in a night. So they are "master painted" just done in a simple, yet effective way.
