A Gnome's Ponderings

I'm a gamer. I love me some games and I like to ramble about games and gaming. So, more than anything else, this blog is a place for me to keep track of my ramblings. If anyone finds this helpful or even (good heavens) insightful, so much the better.

Unfortunately, I have found a new level of usefulness to the iPad. When you are flat on your back and unable to get out of bed, a tablet can be the only way to get any gaming in.

Not to mention anything else.

I have a history of back problems ever since I had a severe sleep walking accident in college. (true story but it still sounds ridiculous even to me) At least once every couple years, my back tends to go out on me, leaving me relatively immobile and in pain.

This year, at least I have access to our iPad.

Even a laptop can be tricky to use when I am at my worst. However, tablets are pretty easy to use even when you are flat on your back.

So, here is one more reason I like online gaming. When I can't even get out of bed, I can still play games. Actually, that might be a sign of some mental issues as well as some back issues

At any rate, isotropic has been my friend. I'm not sure when I will actually get the actual Hinterland cards but now I have had a chance to try them out and explore what they do.

I knew going in that part of the idea in the expansion was that the cards would do something when you gained them. That being said, while I know what the cards do, I am still working on how to use them right

In theory, none of the cards do anything crazy but the fact that many of them have some of their special features only happen changes the structure enough to make a real difference to the way the game plays.

It creates a fourth stage in the turn. Technically a third stage with cleanup being the fourth stage. At this point, I have been playing Dominion long enough that the game is almost second nature to me. It is almost like going through a turn is a reflex action. (Sadly, that doesn't mean I automatically make good decisions ) So this extra element is actually throwing me off

Every expansion makes me think. Good work, Donald X. You have made my back injuries easier to handle.
