Not only did we again not see an app coming, but this also appears to be released by a new developer, Button Mash Games, unknown to us before today. With so many apps today released without proper marketing and supporting web pages behind them, we're glad to see this app's got a nice looking and informative web page to go with it.

Summoner Wars ... Ascension expansion ... Nightfall. My head would explode in a shower of bone and gristle.

But this is huge, no doubt. An utterly fantastic game, and a stealth release, to boot. A very nice surprise.

9th appeared when I did a search (see screenshot above). 15th looks like version 1.0.1
Speculating, I can imagine v1 being approved but Button Mash spotted a bug and quickly fixed it with v1.0.1, and never putting version 1 on for sale.

What an amazing app. I find this to be very well done. This game almost begged to be made into an ios version. I think Pandemic would make an amazing app also.

Anyway I am glad that I saw this. I bought it instantly and I think most of the work i have to do here in my office will sit until tomorrow.

Really? Your BGG "cardboard" collection looks like it is at 309 .... that a lot of digital format boardgames.

Beautiful presentation. Amazing considering it's an app no one expected from a company no one had heard of before yesterday.

Thanks for the update.

Not to be too bitter, but I called this one a long time ago. There was simply no chance that Incinerator was going to release like four major projects in "Fall 2011," as it says at their site.

The only issue now is whether everything is delayed, or just SW.

Well, it's still not quite the same thing, as DoW announced that this one won't have online play through cell networks (so only wifi or bluetooth), nor the Europe and Swiss exp implemented.

I call BS about the latter, as being Iphone OS users, we're used to constantly zooming and flicking the screen to view photos, web pages, and documents anyways. The could capture the details of placing train stations with that. However, if they simply don't want to go through the hassle redoing the graphics for a smaller screen, then fine... fair enough. Speaking of which, I scanned for the platform part and as soon as I saw iOS Ipad only, I skipped the article and went straight for the comments section.

OK, so after two plays and a 20-year design veteran I can say I'm pretty impressed with the implementation.

As the tiniest nit-picks: I'd personally like to see the card shuffling animation changed and/or sped up ... just flip the cards and jiggle them ... there's really no need to slide them slowly off screen then slowly back. But that's really it. Overall, well done.

I bought FI today. Looks like a lot of fun, but the tutorial leaves a bit to be desired (at least in my eyes). Maybe I'm in the minority, but I prefer tutorials that walk you through pretty much everything (these are the roles, these are the cards, this is the flood level, etc. and what they mean) instead of throwing you into a game that's already begun, giving you a few turns, then jumping you way ahead and giving you a couple more turns.

I've said this before -- in my opinion, if a game is going to include a tutorial, the developers should follow the example set by Ascension. That's a well-done tutorial.

My kids and I play the cardboard version of this all the time. I'd say we win about 75% of the time.

I've played this app 6 times now solo (with 3 players all controlled by me) and am 1-5.

I'm starting to think that my kids are carrying me...

Bought this today, while I've never played the fisical boardgame before, and it AWSOME.

After reading the rules, I was a bit overwheled, but after going through the tutorial (which is excelent and very clear) I managed to play and actually win my very first game.

Too bad I cannot say the same thing for Ghost stories for IOS... I bought that more than a week ago, and I still havet o figure out how to play...

Great iOS buy.

9th appeared when I did a search (see screenshot above). 15th looks like version 1.0.1
Speculating, I can imagine v1 being approved but Button Mash spotted a bug and quickly fixed it with v1.0.1, and never putting version 1 on for sale.


Scrumpy Jack, you're both clever and correct.

We actually released Forbidden Island on the 15th, but submitted a version to Apple slightly before. Once Apple stores a release date in their system, it's stuck there for good.

Forbidden Island is a nice family game, ok with kids. Second fiddle to Pandemic, which I'd rather see for iOS. (Crossing fingers...)

Unfortunately, we aren't planning to develop an Android version of Forbidden Island. The development language and UI toolkit that we used to create the game is specific to iOS.

I've only played one round so far, but it's quite well implemented. They haven't missed any of the little details like being able to interrupt the flood phase of another player's turn with your helicopters or sand bags (I actually won by using two helicopters that way). I'd love to see the variable island layouts added, but the screen space is pretty well filled up already. Not sure if all the strange shapes would fit without reducing the size of the tiles to the point of detriment.

So, when can we expect Pandemic?

I have lost on the second player of the first turn on a 4 play game. Fools landing started as being in water and second player drew a waters rise card which in turn turned over fools landing once again.

I am having fun with this app but have yet to win a game.

I agree, this is the kind of Iios release that sets the bar high.

It would be really interesting to hear what is being planned next by this development team, but if this release is anything to go by we only know 2 things...

1. It'll be good.
2. We won't know about it until we can buy it...

So far I like the implementation of the board game.

Does anyone know if there's a way to zoom in on the tiles in addition to Fools Landing? The art is really gorgeous and I hoped you could use the whole IPad screen to contemplate it...

It reminds me of Myst.

Hi Juan. Currently, there's no way to zoom the other tiles. Although, I share your appreciation for the artwork.

Hey Sean,

I'm going to grab the game regardless, but any chance of adding something like a win/loss ratio for each difficulty and number of players (so would that be 12 separate ratios to track?). If that is too much to display in one screen, just show the relevant ratio at the end of the game (i.e. show at the end of a 2 player normal game, this configuration has been attempted 12x but only won 2x).
