I've been recording the games I've played fairly consistently since December 2006; I don't know why I do this other than it being strangely addictive and obviously appealing to the amateur statto within me. I guess it's also been interesting to see which games actually get table time, regardless of how good or bad they are.

Anyway, logging a couple of games of De Bellis Antiquitatis today, I realise I'd hit the 700 mark. As DBA is my top rated game, that rounds things out rather nicely.

Looking over the plays I've logged in these five years, here are the games I've played the most (all of which get decent ratings from me):

De Bellis Antiquitatis
Memoir '44
Backgammon ... Not a favourite of mine but I play with my partner, who does enjoy it.
Carcassonne
Drakon (third edition)

A few games haven't been logged as studiously as the others; play tests of my own games such as Dux Bellorum and Song of Arthur and Merlin were often missed out as they weren't 'real' games in my view. Also missing are the 100s of games I played before I started logging: of these, DBA and Britannia don't have logged plays reflecting the games I've played of them.

So, 700 games in five years; I don't know if that's a lot or quite poor. Ive enjoyed (most) of them, and hope to hit the 1000 mark sooner rather than later...

Good point! I dread to think what my weeks per win ratio might be though!

Cheers Mark!

I log all my games as well. And I as well, am not sure why, but it is nice to be able to look back sometimes.

I think logging game plays fits in with the collecting bug I have as a boardgamer and miniatures gamer. 'Collecting' plays is cheaper and easier to store than either of them! I guess if I was taking part in real life Stone Age, I'd be collecting and hoarding clay like there's no tomorrow....

It is interesting to look at the cost of buying a game against the number of plays it gets; games I play a lot are worth it with their low cost-per-play value, whereas even cheap games seem less worth owning if I only ever register one or two plays. And there are plenty of games in the latter category.

Of course now that I have 750 plays logged, I live in fear that BGG will close its doors and the site will disappear.
