The confusion factor goes up when we're playing by forum, which I've been doing a lot.

However, as your gameplay improves as Resistance, the spies will find ways to manipulate you based on what you now know spies do. So the spies always vote yes to each other... okay, now the spies always vote 'no' to each other, and win. Next game, they do that, you know they're going to do that, and then they get nailed on it and lose. Eventually spies are putting each other on missions together all the time, and you have to catch their communications, but then you learn that they're always doing that and you can identify dual-spy missions without two fails and nail them even easier than before! It's basically emergent gameplay based on who you're playing with, how many times you've played, who has played with which group... it's a beautiful thing and that's the main reason I've fallen in love with the game. In the end, though, the spies usually vote predictably, aren't willing to risk missions together, and either talk up each other too much or talk down each other too much, so you can find them once you know what to look for.
