Tonight I issued a challenge to my two children, a daughter age 8 and a son age 10. Every day during the month of December we will play at least one game. The game will change every day. We may play more than one game, but only one will count for the challenge.

We sat down and compiled a list of about 40 games. The criteria for a challenge game:
1) Must be a good game for 3 players
2) Must be a relatively short game, so we can complete it during school nights.

Each night we will chose one game for the list and remove it from further consideration.

The game chosen for 12/1 was Take it Easy!.

Take It Easy is a game that I currently have rated as a 7 on the BGG ranking system. This is the 20th play since I started recording plays here. It is a game that I usually win, although my son won a couple of games when we played it earlier in the year. My daughter had never won this game.

My daughter enjoys being the "caller" so she turned her tiles upside down and mixed them up while my old son and I organized our tiles. The game played quickly and we were finished in less than 10 minutes.

We first checked the scores in the vertical columns: My son and daughter both scored 71 while I was last with 64.

We then checked both diagonals: I scored 65 points while my daughter got 61 and my son garnered 57.

Final Scores: In the closest 3 player game I have ever been a part of: Daughter 132, Larry 129, Son 128.

My daughter gets her first win ever and her first win in the December Challenge.

That's a great idea! I plan to do something similar with my two kids as soon as they hit 8 and 6 yrs (now they're just 5 and 3). But I'm piling up the games just now: you need to be ready when the time comes up!

Have fun!
And a merry Christhmas!
