• Could Netrunner, a Richard Garfield design that's one of the earliest (and best-loved) collectible-card games, be returning to print? Gamer Ludovic Schmidt has been all over the Netrunner page on BGG, as well as on Netrunneronline.com, talking about his efforts to negotiate with Wizards of the Coast for a new edition of the game and soliciting advice from gamers as to how they'd like to see the game return.

• AMIGO Spiel is holding a drawing for ten copies of the Atlantis: Ikarus expansion. Enter by December 16, 2011 for a chance to win.

• Issue #12 of the fancy-pants Dutch online gaming journal Spel in Zicht is available for download.

• BGG user pratchettfan777 – real name Brett – has a fun-to-browse gaming blog called Board Game Muse that features interviews, mini-reviews, rants and more, all wrapped in tech-savvy and creamy smooth dressing.

• French gaming site TricTrac.net has announced Troyes as the winner of the 2011 Tric Trac d'Or, an award determined by votes from the reading public. Second- and third-place, which were not that far behind first, went to Olympos and Die Burgen von Burgund.

• Japanese gaming site 4Gamer.net reports on the Fall 2011 Games Market in Asakusa, featuring lots of new Japanese games that may or may not be available in other versions or outside the country. I say this as Japon Brand's Tak is pictured playing Thunderstone, so he was likely checking out new releases for future display at Spiel.

• Designer Lewis Pulsipher offers an interesting, fist-shaking, "you kids get off my lawn" post in his BGG blog titled "Strategic Thinking Is Becoming Rare Among Game Players".

• Designer Alf Seegert is interviewed yet again about The Road to Canterbury and design in general, this time by GAMES Magazine's Thomas McDonald. Alf needs to share some of his special marketing juice with other designers...

• Online gaming site Board Game Arena has announced that Greg Daigle's Hawaii will be added to its offerings. (HT: BGG user Kaacee)

• And Firenze has been added in a beta version at Yucata.de.

• Canadian publisher Filsofia, which acquired Z-Man Games in the middle of 2010, is looking to hire a communications/project manager. Here's a press release from the publisher about this position:

Quote:
Job title: Communications - project manager

The rapid growth the company enjoyed in the past few years and the recent acquisition of an American publisher have given Filosofia/Z-MAN Games a desirable position in the industry, thus securing an advantageous position for the years to come.

NetRunner!? Be still my heart! That game needs to be released as an LCG, and then at least released as an iOS game if not an XBLA/PC game as well. There cannot be too much NetRunner.

I would buy a netrunner LCG (or whatever different system name they come up with).
And I like the dated retro future art! Are they gonna keep it?

I'm also very skeptical of a Netrunner reprint actually happening. Besides, "opened negotiations with WoTC about a reprint" can mean a lot of different things. There is also the issue of the cyberpunk license with R. Talsorian games.

On occasion, Richard Garfield has talked about getting the license back from Hasbro. If he can't get it back, I doubt anyone else can, honestly.

Netrunner reprint would be cool... but I just bought a copy off of eBay the other week! Why is it when I always get an OOP game they go and reprint it: Samurai Swords, Nexus Ops, Merchant of Venus, Netrunner, etc.

What's next? A reprint of Ace of Aces?

I've never really played CCG's, but I've been checking out Netrunner lately and it sounds really solid. Hopefully they release it as an LCG/"Cube" format game, instead of just another CCG. I think that would draw in more boardgamer people, like me, while still allowing tournaments and deckbuilding, etc.

I hope the Netrunner reprint happens, and I hope it includes the expansion as well. And possibly the half finished second expansion that never actually came out?

I sold all my M:TG cards, I ditched all my Star Wars, Rage, and Jyhad cards.

I kept Netrunner.

I would play net runner again in any form, BUT...

I'm most inclined to say re-release it as the CCG it was, just because I'd be worried that changing the format may open up the door in the publisher's mind to other changes in the game (like deleting or "improving" cards, withholding them for later LCG cycles, etc.)

Dont mess with success!

It's a strange world in which you call Netrunner a "success."

It may have been designed well, but it died off very quickly. It is strange to think using the EXACT same design might not lead to the same thing?

It is not strange at all. The difference here is that it would be republished with a different distribution model in a very different market. That's huge.

World eater wanted to republish it as a CCG, without a change in format, and without "deleting or 'improving' cards, withholding them for later LCG cycles, etc." In other words, with the same distribution model as before.

Sure, the market is different. It's far more competitive, for starters, with hundreds of hobbyist games now coming out annually.

Hey Canada - In America we work 9-5. Just imagine Dolly Parton singing "Working 8 to 4, what a way to make a living". Just doesn't work.

Maybe that's why you still have ducks on your money.

Also, by limiting it to only bilingual French/English speakers, they are significantly limiting their pool of potential applicants to French Canadiens, and about 4 snobby Americans who go to a'French' immersion school.

That job at Filosofia sounds great other than working 8-4. Who works 8-4? Maybe it's a Canadian thing.

They look to be hiring someone to work at their offices in Quebec, I doubt their goal is to relocate non-Canadians (or even people living outside of Quebec), likely making the bilingual requirement pretty standard. I doubt they are planning to go through the hoops to transfer and allow an American to work in Canada.

Netrunner? HELL YA!

However I would like to see an updated version of Cyberpunk. there is an awesome RPG (whose name eludes me) that speculates what cyberpunk 2.0 would be like. Everyone is a virtual entity and you have to rent 'bodies'. It would not change the mechanics much but a lot of the netrunner setting is extremely dated.

If publishers aren't sure they should Kickstarter this effort. I would gladly give my money for a Netrunner LCG. Make it so!

Netrunner is a simply amazing game - If anything deserves the LCG treatment is it this one...
LCG would ruin Netrunner. Personally I've never played with enything but the base decks. I have several unopened booster pack because they're just not necessary.

I'd vote for a self-contained game. If they wanted a big box with several hundred cards, ok. But buying chapter packs for Netrunner after getting a truncated base game? That would be an abonination! YMMV
