Day 4 of the December Challenge, and it is my son's turn to pick a game. He picks Factory Fun, a game he loves but in which he tends to do rather poorly. Melissa joined the kids and me for the game.

Factory Fun is a game that I rank an 8. It has some solitaire tendencies as everyone works on their own board and you can't sabotage your opponents. But you also have to quickly pick your machines so there is some interaction as you watch as your opponent snatches a piece just as you realize it is the perfect machine for you.

This was the 5th recorded play on BGG, which is the number of times we have played the game since I bought it after I started logging plays.

I don't know if we were rusty at the game or a bit tired, but no one did particularly well. Both me and my daughter had to take a -5 penalty and my son broke even on a placement where he didn't get a bonus.

At the end of the game, the base scores were Larry 33, Daughter 30, Melissa 25, Son 18. Adding in the bonus points did not change the standings.

Final Scores: Larry 68, Daughter 55, Melissa 40, Son 33.

It didn't help that the daughter got almost all of the "extra tiles". My factory was so poorly designed it resembled a Rube-Goldberg machine.
