So, having been well and truly sucked back into gaming as a hobby over the past couple of years, I've learnt a great many things about which games are good, which are bad, and which are classics. One of these has always intrigued me, but will always be difficult to obtain due to the fact that it is out of print. That game is Dune. However, there are a number of print and play versions of it on the 'Geek, which means with a little time investment, I can create my own version of the game. Having a look through the myriad of files available, one redesign really stood out, and this is Ilya 77's redesign, which looks amazing. Unfortunately, it isn't complete yet.

Ilya 77 has completed a redesign of the smaller format Dune Express though, which, again, looks fantastic. Therefore, to tide me over while the Dune redesign gets completed, I've been putting together Dune Express. Currently, I've created the dice, using blank 16mm dice bought from www.thediceshoponline.com and printing the faces onto sticker sheets that are then stuck onto the faces. I'm going to finish them off using a satin varnish produced by Citadel - the matt varnish I have made the surfaces too wet, leading to the stickers slipping.

I've also got the sticker sheets for the troop counters printed - these are going to be mounted onto 15mm wooden discs picked up from www.boardgameextras.co.uk that should be turning up later this week. All the other tokens etc. are in progress and I'm picking up a piece of hardboard to mount the board on when I go to the B&Q on Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll have everything completed later this week, so look out for an update then!
