I've been fighting a bad cold all day so I didn't feel like playing anything too difficult. So Melissa suggested Tiki Topple for our challenge game.

Tiki Topple is a solid family filler. It has nice components, and it reminds me somewhat of Formula Motor Racing but with the advantage that it is harder to gang up on the leader due to hidden objectives. My children really like this one. I rate it 7 and this is our 16th recorded play on BGG.

Everyone knew how to play and we followed the recommendation to play a number of rounds equal to the number of players. The first round was dominated by me with 14 points and Daughter with 11. Neither Melissa nor Son scored.

The 2nd round saw continued dominance by Daughter and myself as she scored 9 points, I scored 7 and no one else scored.

I was shutout in the 3rd round. Daughter scored 14 to pull out to a huge lead. Melissa scored 11 and Son scored 7 but it was too late for them to make a run at the win.

The final round saw my Daughter get shut out for the first time, but I didn't score enough to overtake her for the win.

Final Scores: Daughter 34, Larry 28, Melissa 11, Son 9.

I thought for a minute that I wasn't going to score at all as my tikis kept getting toasted! Maybe tomorrow afternoon we can try one of the heavier games you got for Christmas. 8:30 at night with a sick daddy and two giggly kids wasn't the time for heavy.

Interesting comment about Formula Motor Racing. We always play it with secret cars so that no one truly "knows" who the leader is. Maybe that's why FMR is a favorite of ours and Tiki Topple did not go over well in its one outing.

Interesting. Do you play one round only, switch cars between rounds, or keep the same cars throughout the game?

Thanks. I think it is just a bad cold. I don't have fever or sore throat just a stuffy nose and chest congestion.

Nope. We play with the same color(s) for all three races, which makes it really impressive when someone you just KNEW was orange and red turned out to be green and red after all three races were complete.

Ok. I'll have to give this a try.
