Board Gaming: Had my sis over a few days ago for some board gaming. I've been acquiring games faster then she's been able to try them, so I just let her pick what she wanted to play.

First up was a game of Elder Sign, which has easily become my favorite cooperative game. My daughters joined in on this one as well and the four of us just barely won, having only 1 doom token spot left on the baddie (the one that ends the game on his final doom token). My girls continue to enjoy Elder Sign and my sis liked it as well, so I'm sure it'll continue to be a staple on game days for quite a while to come.

Next up was JAB: Realtime Boxing, my current favorite filler. Jess didn't quite feel it though, so we only played through one game. Pity too since I had originally gotten Jab specifically because Jess really enjoys Egyptian Ratscrew and Jab has a similar fast paced nature to it.

Also of note: I'm still undefeated

We rounded out our session with 3 games of Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer with Ascension: Return of the Fallen mixed in along with several of the promos. This is Jess' favorite deckbuilder so far and while I enjoy it as well, it's a bit light for my tastes. Still, it is a very good game that's easy to teach and fast to setup and play, so I'll probably never turn down a game.

Steam Gaming: In addition to board games, I've been keeping an eye on Steam sales and have picked up / been gifted several this season:

So far the only ones that I've bought are Frozen Synapse, From Dust (not pictured) and Sequence. I've been gifted Portal 2 and Assassin's Creed, won a copy of Terraria via G4GG (and gifted a copy to my BFF) and nabbed the free Spiral Knights. Plenty of games to keep me busy for quite a while to come.

The first of the collection to get played was Frozen Synapse (and there's a free copy up for grabs here as well). So far I've played through the tutorial and the first 4 missions and have really enjoyed it. The game play is pretty cool with a lot of options in attempting to come up with the best scenarios. I'm still getting used to the play style, but I can easily see myself playing it for a long time to come.

The only other game to be played so far was Sequence, which when I first heard about it immediately thought that it sounded like a cool mix of mechanics. I was right. I literally played straight through it over the course of 2 days, only taking breaks to eat and sleep (to my wife's displeasure). SUCH a fun game and has some hilarious audio and flavor texts, though it does have some bad lingo in the cut scenes, still... very, very fun and highly recommended. The only thing I have left is a very difficult tidbit that's unlocked after beating the final boss and to check out the bonus section.

Nightfall: BGG has started up their [POLLS] RESULTS POSTED -- NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED -- 20 Most Anticipated Games of 2012 with Nightfall: The Coldest War listed as item #42, so please consider hopping over and giving it a thumb.

NF6 continues to progress smoothly in playtesting, with v05 of the cards currently in testing. We've started to mix in some new starters and wounds that will likely release with NF7 in another big box set, but I won't say for sure as testing is far from complete.

Anime: Finished up xxxHOLiC this week (no, the xxx does not stand for perverted stuff...) and found out that it shares some characters with Tsubasa Chronicle, so that one's next on my list (well, actually I've already watched the first 5 eps or so).

After reading in one of your previous posts about JAB, I tried it out a couple of weeks ago. The four of us who gave it a try all enjoyed. Real fast paced with a lot to think about with not much time to think. Good, stressful fun!

Man I love Super Meat Boy - it's just so difficult - but that's it's charm. Good buy at $3.74.

I grabbed the rest of Company of Heroes for $8. I've had Frozen Synapse for a while now and it is really fun to play multiplayer. Check out the Frozen Synapse Live casts for tips on how to play properly, and to see some top players playing. There is a built in IRC chat but better to use a different chat program because then it won't take up your screen. There's often someone actually there to answer questions or to play against.

Also, I'm on BGG a lot so feel free to GM me with any questions. I'm Jythier on FS, a top 500 player. Not sure if that means anything or not though.

Cool. Video gaming isn't currently my primary form of entertainment, but if I get into FS I may very well look into IRC and the live casts.

Also, picked up Braid, Bastion, Magicka, Trine and World of Goo whistle

Hopefully all this will keep me busy until the summer sales laugh

I'd rather be playing board games, myself, but I find that I don't have opportunities to do so. FS plays just like a board game, though... so it's like board gaming but in video game form. Not twitch, you know?

We need more players.
