I got Zombie Dice in at Gen Con 2010. I am always looking for games that are good for casual groups. After I played a demo, I realized that this would be a good game that anyone could play. Is it a good game though?
Game Overview Zombie Dice is a simple "push your luck" game. On a player's turn they roll three dice. There are three possibilities they can roll. A brain is a point, footprints will be re-rolled, and shotgun blasts are bad. The first person who gets 13 points from brains will win. If a player gets three shotgun blasts then they lose all of the brains they rolled on that turn. When a player rolls they always roll three dice, bu re-rolling the footprints and grabbing new dice at random They can stop at any point, and "bank" the brains. There are three types of dice. Green dice are more likely to roll brains. Yellow dice are in between, and red dice are more likely to roll shot gun blasts.
The Game We Played I got off to a good start with five brains. My wife eventually got up and passed me at nine brains. I then got to eleven and stopped leaving the door open, but my wife had a bad roll. I got to 15, and my wife had one chance to catch up. She rolled to 14 had one more chance, but got her second and third shot gun blasts. This made the final score 15-9.
Our Thoughts My Rating: 4 (like it) My Thoughts: For what it is, Zombie Dice is a good game. It is a simple game that really captures the fun that pushing luck with dice provides.
Her Rating: 4 (like it) Her Thoughts: I like it. I really like the anticipation of pushing your luck and not knowing what will be rolled.
Verdict Combined Rating: 8
This is such a simple game that plays so quickly that we can pretty much play whenever.
