The Lure of the One Ring and the One Blue Box

I have to admit it was close...

I'm really hooked on 'The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game'. I've bought the core set plus the first 3 expansions, am really into trying to beat the scenarios (although not very sccessfully it has to be said...), love the artwork, most of the mechanics, and the feel of the game in general. I've been listening to some lovely Howard Shore music all week and have watched 'The Fellowship of the Ring' and adored it (all 4 hours of the extended edition). Hell, I've even started to reread the books - something I've not done for about 20 years.

So I thought it was curtains for DWSSG... well, not really, but perhaps I deserved a good break for me to enjoy something different for a while. Once I finish 'Silence Will Fall' - and with only 1 page to go, that won't take me long - I thought, like Bilbo, I deserved a long holiday...

But if you cut me open, I'm sure I have TARDIS-blue blood in my veins and my DNA is part Gallifreyan. I just can't walk away - my passion for the show is so inbult to every pore. I have lived and breathed Doctor Who for so long now - 40 years just about - and so much of my life and events and friends are Who related - that the show willl never let me go.

So DWSSG is back with a vengeance in my sights and the next few months are going to be full of surprises - new expansions, new playaids, New Dimensions, and perhaps, just perhaps, even more...

Simon, get back into your Tardis. The Fellowship can wait. Bilbo and Frodo aren`t going anywhere. The one ring to rule them all. Its driving me mad. If only the simplier times would return. The lord of the Rings will be the death of us yet. Wheres the Doctor when you need him? Maybe Simon can do an adventure that would lead the good doctor into the fellowship. Would that not be grand. By the way, go ahead and throw a dragon into the mix. Hurry up Simon, The Tardis waits on no man.

Freebird out.
