At the risk of being inundated with offers of assistance, I'm looking for someone who might be able to assist me with .MPG files that Scott Reed, aka skelebone, has sent me from the Nürnberg Toy Fair. Please post below and I'll contact people in the order they respond. Thanks!

What kind of help do you require ?
Are these audio or video .mpg files ?
If you'e just trying to view them, VLC (videolan client) should be able to play just about any media files.

If you want to edit them, it depends whether it's audio or video.
For video, audacity should be able to edit most audio formats.
For video, you'll find a vast array of tools like virtualdub on http://www.doom9.org.
(only listing free solutions here, but of course commercial software exists too.)

Handbrake is a killer free application for Mac and Windows that can recompile video. I use it all the time for video files that are giving me trouble.

I said that I'd contact people in the order they respond, but VLC lets me view the files and that's what I need so that I can label and describe the files appropriately. Now to get busy with that – thanks, other Eric!

VLC is a great multi-format viewer.

If you need to do something a little more with the videos than just rename them such as top and tail, some simple editing for content, convert to MP4, etc. PM me on BGG or contact me at support @ videoredo dot com

Handbrake works under Linux too, at least for Fedora 14 and Fedora 15.
