DWSSG - A Time (and Space) Pirate

I've said before how much time DWSSG takes. It probably is the only thing that I do outside of 'work and family'. People who want to be game designers should really think hard about the amount of hard work and dedication it takes. You've got to spend an awfully long time on it. Not just designing but all the other stuff that comes witth it - support, correspondance, publicity, playtesting, spell checking etc etc.

DWSSG has ben going now for about 2 and a half years and I have to say (writing this when I'm full up with cold and man-flu) it's been a bit difficult these last 2 months or so.

'Silence will Fall' is finished but it's been a marathon. 25 pages of material is a lot to complete, especialy when the material it's based on is complex and difficult to model. I hope people like what I've done and give me feedback. It's been very quiet both here and on the Yahoo group so I don't want to have broken my neck working all the hours if no-one gives a damn!

I'm sending the material to the admins later today so it should appear here when those lovely people clear it and on the Yahoo group tomorrow hopefully - but maybe Sunday.

This week I've been watching the Season 6 (the one from 1969 though) and Troughton's 'The Space Pirates' via a very good reconstruction along with the existing episode 2. The reconstruction is excellent - especially considering they have so little to work with. The story itself is less than inspiring. With Bob Holmes being instructed by the production team to keep the TARDIS crew out of the main focus (apparently to appease Pat Troughton who was exhausted by this time) the episodes move along at snail's pace with the regulars going from one incarceration to another - space beacon, then cave, then locked room!

It would easily been enough for 4 episodes, but at 6 it's a long haul. Some of the characters are fine but because they just have to tread water for ages, it is a bit of a snooze. Not as bad as it's reputation might have believe, but pretty much a duffer. Just about a 3.5/10 I think.

Anyone else caught this one?

I'm looking forward to "Silence Will Fall!" I'm working my way through that season right now, and playing the game alongside watching the show should be really interesting. It's been a while since I've had both the time and the energy to get in a session of DWSSG, and I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms!

Just have two Troughton stories a cyberman one and seeds of death. Just finished Earthshock. Some scenes needed an extra take or two. Usually the ones where the cyberman stumbles and nearly falls down the stairs or trips over some set item.

Didn't like the Doctor taking up Cyberleaders gun and shooting him with it. Somewhat out of character for him to take up a weapon. Its one thing to chuck gold into their breather units but another to shoot it repeatedly at point blank range.

Looking forward to the DWSSG take on season 6.
