If I ws a little more creative I'd have a better intro than the same 'ol same 'ol every week. You know, "There was four of us" or "There was five tonight". Blech. Tired of that start (but it's appropriate). So, how about this?

We started with four and was waiting on the fifth?

Still not really exciting. But, it's the truth. Kevin, Chris, Timm and I, in our waiting, got in a game of Some'R'Set with Kevin and I partnering up versus Timm and Chris. First hand Kev and I got crushed. I think we managed one trick and three total points which gave Timm and Chris, nine sandbags to start. Second hand I picked, called the trump, and got set. I had a butt load of 10's but I didn't have the boss 10 nor did the cards fall right. Ooof. My hand was awesome in the third hand and I picked and we hit our bid exactly. But, hey, I could continue sugar coating it. The good guys lost. Kev and I managed 26 where Timm and Chris broke 66 for the win.

Jamey arrived with Rallyman in tow. I know the game said 2-4 but we added a fifth person for no worse the wear. Anyways, I had not played this one before and the time I watched it played, I wasn't very impressed. Jamey and Kevin went through the rules and away we went. The start, to space out the cards, was weird. I had to wait a bit until I got going. It's not as bad as it would seem as I was able to zip to the bathroom, toss in some music and in general, blab.

I forgot to note everything so times are approximate (and quite possibly wrong). The first track was a short one to get used to the game (and the basic rules). I had 6min, Timm had 5:20, Jamey had 5:00, Kevin was at 4:20 and Chris at 4m. I had some ground to make up and I did so on the second track, which we introduced the advanced rules with rolling all of the dice to earn seconds off. That added a bunch to the game. I gained ground and on that track I took second by zipping through at 2:45. Timm had an awesome run making it in 2:05. The others were in the 3's. I was still in last but not by much. Timm was now a full minute ahead of everyone else going into the last track which was half-snow/half dry. Kevin, Chris, and Jamey all selected snow tires. Timm and I took regular tires. Timm still had his control card for the third track (and the snow). I felt the extra edge with the white die could earn me back some time. And it did. As Timm was slipping and sliding and fixed his flat tire, I just threw the dice and went. Amazingly, I did not get a spin out just about until the end of the race in the snow. I should have rolled one at a time but as I said during the race to others who rolled one at a time "you're playing to lose". It bit me as I spun out twice. Not having to alter my plans but it did add 30 or 40 seconds onto my finish. Jamey won with a total of 15:45. Kevin got 16:17, Chris had 16:18, I had 16:20 and Timm was 17:something.

My opinion of the game changed. I won't say it's better than Formula De, but it's different. The push your luck has a different feel and with how you collect time cards, you just don't know where you are at. The pressure is there to try and make up 10 seconds here and there. It was very exciting, I thought. An excellent race game. We talked about how you could do a league with it with a bunch of people as it's all based on time where you do not have to have everyone race at once. More like a variety of heats. I'm going to look up some rally vid on Youtube to watch this morning.
