So I got my trades in. Citadels, Rune Age, Anima SoO. Can't wait to break this shit out! Found out rune age is solo playable! That was like christmas to me. I'm really big into games that can be played solo. Warhammer Quest was my first major solo play game, as unforgiving of a game it is, it is quite fun.
Played some resistance 3, really not a bad game. I played a good bit of the 2nd one, and had no attachment to it what so ever. The moment it became even remotely difficult i put it down. Nothing compelled me to play it to the end. (last thing i remember doing was trapping swarms of stuff in big teleporter looking things to kill them). I wasn't attached to the characters, the story, nada. Maybe if I had started with the first one, i dunno.
But this one actually feels good. I generally can connect with the main character kind of. He got a bad rap from the end of the first game, and he's trying to do the best he can. Very human. I will admit I'm a bit over these "me vs the god damn world" games. That kind of played out back in the ps1 day. If you really want to break this game down, its a glorified contra.
But I have picked up a few "party" members here and there so it didn't seem SO "me vs them". Still...little weird. At times though it feels like this game wants to be fallout 3. The underground running in the beginning reminded me of vaults and the whole hybrid aliens kind of remind me of ghouls now and then. Plus it is in the 50s.
Anyway, back to the traded games...YAY! GOTZ TEH CARDZ GAYMS! The art on anima seems a bit dark, like they should have hit the contrast and brightness up a few dozen before they went to print. I also want to find out 'zackly the diff in this version and the new reprinted ones.
Hope to play something soon.
Currently boiling city of thieves minis in order to make them straight and not all bendy, saw a guy recommend that somewhere...and it works! seems most FFG game minis are rubber and not plastic really.
Edit --
Played Forbidden Island with wife... i was told it was kind of a kid's game. Yeah...i can see that. Pretty sure i'll never pick it up again unless someone else brings it out and just HAS to play it. It was fun for a one time pop, but it really lacks any depth to be a "real" game.
