A couple of years ago (before I'd started logging my games played - or doing anything other than reading - here at BGG) I played World of Warcraft: The Adventure Game with my two older kids (then aged 10 and 13) and a visiting friend, all of whom were hopelessly addicted to WoW (the PC game) at the time. The game dragged on a bit, the visitor (not a regular boardgamer) lost interest and I decided the game was too much effort to play with my kids so it got shelved..

Cue forward two years and a friend who has started gaming with us regularly spotted it on the shelf and said she'd like to give it a try. Since I only vaguely recalled how to play I pulled it out today and decided to unbox the eight character packs I've had for it forever and to read through the rules. It didn't seem much more involved than many of the games I now play routinely with my youngest son (currently seven years old) so I decided to give it a shot this afternoon with my two boys..

After an unbearably long character-selection period we made a start. My seven-year-old plays a lot of games he's well below the suggested age for and he usually handles them very well. This afternoon was no exception, both boys had a great time and were both adamant that they were each only a few turns from victory when we had to call the game before anyone reached the eight-point target. They've both asked if we can play again tomorrow when with an earlier start and a better understanding of the rules we should have no trouble finishing.

and for the record, I was only a few turns from victory when we had to stop.
