Among the Stars takes place in a war-ravaged galaxy where the warring alien races have declared peace in the wake of a threat with the potential to destroy them all. An Alliance is established to build space stations throughout the galaxy in order to promote trade among the races, strengthen diplomatic relations, and defend against this impending threat. Each player takes the role of one of those races trying to build the greatest space station. Through card drafting, the players select locations, and use these to build their station, scoring victory points based on the placement. The construction lasts four years, and alien race with the most points at the end wins.
I wanted to create three starter decks with the basic locations from all three sets of ATS. There are 3 starter decks with 44 cards a piece. They have a balance of 8-12 cards per color. The goal was to be able to create ease of set up by having 3 starter basic locations ready to go, then you just add 52 cards from the Special Locations for a 4 player game. (10 from each color, one color gets 12)
This Excel file summarises all the FAQs asked and replied to in BGG forums (at least those I can find)to provide one central location to help new gamers. Wherever possible (and found) Game Designer's answers have been used.
Updated: These player aids have setup summary guide on one side and game play/rules on the other. Each game play side has a different header color to match the player colors. It prints on 8.5x11 sheets (two aids per sheet). I suggest printing two sided with a laser printer on card stock, trim, and laminate or single sided on adhesive paper to put on cardboard. Added a few minor things.
I had several requests for a one page layout like my original two page. Here it is. The board artwork is by Odysseus (original game art) as seen on BGG, KS, and Odysseus website. This board has proper sized score spaces. Use the minis (extra spaces to avoid conflict) for scoring by ones and the cardboard player markers for every ten. If a player goes over 100VPs, use the +50 side of the cardboard marker and adjust its position on the track accordingly. It has year turn marker spaces and 4 card spaces (objectives, ambassadors, reactors, draw, discard, etc...) for whatever you want. It prints on one 8.5x11 sheet to fit in base game box. I suggest printing with a laser printer on card stock or adhesive paper to put on cardboard.
