Description

[Edit] [History]

Set thousands of years in the future, Dune the boardgame is based on the Frank Herbert novels about an arid planet at the heart of the human space empire's political machinations.

Designed by the creators at Eon of Cosmic Encounter fame, the game can best be described as Cosmic Encounter set within the Dune universe. It does diverge in several mechanical ways but its heart is still in the same place, that is, it is a game that generates a lot of player interaction through negotiation and bluffing.

Players each take the role of one of the factions attempting to control Dune. Each faction has special powers that overlook certain rules in the game. Each turn players move about the map attempting to pick up valuable spice while dealing with giant sandworms, deadly storms, and other players' military forces. A delicate political balance is formed amongst the factions to prevent any one side from becoming too strong. When a challenge is made in a territory, combat takes the form of hidden bids with additional treachery cards to further the uncertainty.

The game concludes when one faction (or two allied factions) is able to control a certain number of strongholds on the planet.

0 Descartes Player Aid - English Translation - For Dual-sided printing - card quantities updated
DunePlayerAidPad_Descartes_dual-sided_(c...
This is the updated version of the double-sided player aid I uploaded some time ago (translations from earlier edition by someone else); i have corrected/updated the card quantities (with thanks to 'coolpapa' for pointing out the omission) contained when using the expansions.
0 Vector map for Dune (Light)
dune light.cdr
It's a lightened (by about ~45 mb) version of my original vector dune board... See the description at: [ImageID=223459] http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/223459 It's saved in a Corel Draw 9 standard that most vector programs should work with. ps. The basic colour for "The Red chasm" is regrettably the same as for the Cities... but may be corrected by just two clicks ;)
0 Traitor Cards
Dune traitor cards.pdf
Traitors cards for the six original factions, sized to fit within a standard card sleeve (2.5-inches by 3.5 inches). I recommend printing these cards on cardstock, or padding the sleeves with old playing cards for support. This set was inspired by nerotelchar's "CTraitors" file, which is also posting on BGG for Dune.

leader tokens.jpg
Ecraven's stuff got me fired up to make a DIY version of Dune, but Mike Doyle was the catalyst. Using his designs and adding some of my own, I created a full set of leader tokens. Print on foamcore or cardboard or sticker stock.(which I did and then stuck them to spray painted backgammon pieces.)

0 Dune- gekuerzte deutsche Spielhilfe - shorted German quickrules
Spielhilfe aktuell.doc
:-) Here a shorted german version of the dune-rules. Because of several houserules, these rules don't conform absolutly with the original rules. It also concludes all the special abilities of the different factions. Have fun playing it! :-)
