This is Mah Jong converted to cards. It is a much more accessible format with a very clear rulebook that adds hand types in a programmed fashion. It plays a lot like Rummy with special cards and a lot of special hands. Unlike Mah Jong, Mhing scales well from 2 to 8 players.

Based on Spinch's spreadsheet, but designed for use on a laptop. Has 1 sheet for each of (up to) 8 players. Just enter the # of times you match each scoring criteria (e.g., enter a '1' in the appropriate space if you have a Royal Run; do NOT enter the # of credits). Calculates your scores and keeps a running total.
